Time for everyone to put on their big boy pants-whether designer or Mario/Elf-so we can all support our MBB. Go Mustangs!
It makes sense to me.

This whole thing is pretty funny, but what about this possibility: These guys saw an opportunity to not only support their team but also gain notoriety for themselves because they differentiated themselves by dressing in costumes. Some might say it's selfish or self-centered, but maybe it's just opportunistic. They knew how much we'd be on TV, they probably had an idea that they could become focal points for "the mob" (even though a mob by definition is a group without a focal point) and they've singled themselves out of the group by dressing up. Think about what these guys have accomplished. They've managed to single themselves out so much that people on this board are willing to send them (or help) to New York. Are these guys any more deserving to go than anyone else that's been to as many games???? In my opinion no. Fans are fans; be loud be proud. "The Mob" has been fantastic and I'm glad we have the home court advantage we do. Just a viewpoint from afar.
GO PONIES!!!! Beat Clemson!!!

Some people have implied myself and others are "jealous" of the attention these guys receive, but that is not at all the case. Rather, I am simply bringing up the point that I believe these clowns make our university look ridiculous and the attention they garner is not at all positive. People are wondering about the relevance of these characters, of which there is none, and it just makes us look like a bunch of weirdos and trust me when I say the rest of the student section is not behind it. It's not cool and the only opportunity these guys "seized" was to alienate the rest of the student section, confuse the general public, and negatively impact our university's reputation.

How are they negatively impacting the university's reputation? It's actually nice to see a little weird out there, it makes our university seem less stuck up.

Lobster - for a student you sure are sure a stick in the mud. You need to not be so serious. The costumes are funny. Everyone thinks they are funny. I have had dozens of people not remotely affiliated with SMU say think think it hilarious. To see an elf giving Pitino holy hell is a crack up.

I think there is more going on here. If you don't like them personally that is a different issue. Hope to see more of the costumes in the future, and hope this uppity attitude dies a natural death at SMU.

Ever seen Cameron Field House at Duke? There is a reason they are called "The Cameron Crazies." The nuttier it gets the better. We are all behind the greatness of this team, so give it a rest.

I was going to cite Cameron Indoor and the Crazies earlier. Best thing about them? They're equally crazy. They're all so crazy that no one person stands out above the rest or tries to.

There are costumed fans all over the country. It is nothing unusual and is enjoyed by everyone.

ITT: A student who wants more attention criticizes students who get attention for the ways they have chosen to get attention, and then says that they aren't jealous of the attention the other guys are getting.

This is the most SMU thread ever

As to mountain's statement "They're all so crazy that no one person stands out above the rest or tries to", this guy disagrees:

There is room for everybody. Guys, please put the petty garbage behind you. What ALL the students have done is amazing, and every alum on this board is grateful for every one of you.

I'm a student and have been to every home game, even the ones in Garland. A few of my friends even drove to Houston when we played at Houston, and then we drove to Memphis when we played at Memphis. I didn't see them at those away games. Just because they dress up in costumes doesn't make them any better of a fan than those who don't. Everyone yells just as loud as they do. The emphasis placed on them is absurd.
