Only hot beer at College Station

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Sep 15, 2005 12:15 am

Tailgating is no fun in College Station because they only serve hot beer. The student who had the recipe for ice has graduated.

Too bad we don't care about the Pony's, I love being the most hated school in Texas, I guess thats what happens when you're the top school in the state.

Alright, for the last time. When you pluralize a noun (e.g. a mascot), one must only add an S. No apostrophe. Those aren't the "Fightin' Texas Aggie's," are they? Oklahoma doesn't have SOONER'S across their chest.

Drives me crazy.

And that will prove to be your downfall this Saturday, Aggie.

And it's Ponies, not Pony's...unless your talking about a possesive singular animal.

No that's what happens when you're a freakish CULT. Are you in charge of brainwashing the freshmen into climbing up on the deathtrap this year?

Because I think it succinctly defines the cult mentality of Texas A&M. In the wake of a tragedy that killed, what 12 students, and a situation that their own engineering professors said had long since been out of control, the A&M faithful that really stood out to me in quotes I read were the ones who were outraged that the school would have the audacity to discontinue that "tradition". That is a cult. That is how I think of A&M. Sorry that it offends you, but their behavior offended me.

I just think it is of pretty poor taste to choose that particular tradition as means of showing your dislike for that what you consider to be cultish.

And I thought it was in poor taste for the Aggies to whine about cancelling a "tradition" that had just killed 12 kids who didn't know any better. It was inexcusable. Just out of curiosity, why don't you disclose your position on the bonfire after the accident? I'd like to know why you find my distaste so distasteful.

Just to be clear, I don't find your position distasteful or offensive. There are surely others that were personally affected by the tragedy that probably feel the same way. What offended me was your decision to use bonfire as a tool to promote an overall view of A&M being a cult.

To answer your question, I would like to see bonfire return. And I would have no problem with my child wanting to participate in it's construction. Consider me brainwashed.

Thanks again for the response. If you are able to make the game tomorrow, have a safe trip.

In fairness, I should not have used the word "defines" in my initial response. I should have used "exemplifies" because the bonfire aftermath is not the only cult-like behavior exhibited in college station, and I don't mean to suggest otherwise. It just particularly stands out to me.

The corps, the yells, the whole production reeks of cult, but I can get past all that. The bonfire deal just rubbed me the wrong way back then and still does. I already said sorry if that offends you so I won't say it again.

decision to use bonfire

I've got a great idea...we could be just like these guys and start referring to events, places and inanimate objects pronouns with no need for
articles (the, this, an etc).

Just imagine....football played not on the hilltop, but at Hilltop.

We could refer to the dp as simply "Death Penalty;" for example, "I don't know why just because we're discussing SMU ya'll want to just bring up Death Penalty."

Wouldn't it be grand? Tradition & everything!

Oh...and don't forget...it's not The Boulevard...it's simply Boulevard!
