Not sure why ya'll are skeptical about a Top 250 prospect being on campus visiting. I realize there's a lot of hate out there for June Jones but don't be blinded by it. By my count, only 5 of the Top 250 from 2014 committed to non-P5 schools.
Only 5 may have committed but do the others have offers? Again, this is not a remark on his ability. But there has to be a reason no one is offering. I am delighted he is visiting and I hope he commits if for no other reason that we get someone on the board. Maybe he can be a pied piper recruit if he is as good as projected.

Or does it leave the planted knee open to injury if he takes a late hit? I really don't know. It looks like he has good movement and strength. It just looks like he's throwing a Thai roundhouse kick. I agree there are a lot less schools looking for the pro-style traditional QB. That certainly can be an opportunity for a school looking for one

He's #9..... They're waiting on the other 8? I put it in another thread awhile back, but everyone around him (above and below) all had multiple, quality offers and he's got none.

Solid Support for my Theory on West Coast Recruiting
Texas Top 100 Commitments-43% California Top 100 commitments: 15%

Again, that is commitments, not offers.

right but California has never really seen the early recruiting Texas has. UT, A&M, Baylor especially have been going strong after the 2015 Class for 5 months now. Heck SMU fans probably remember that Klemm jumped a bunch of West Coast schools on Top recruits before California schools did. I'd bet UCLA brings that style recruiting to the West Coast first

Yep-UCLA already with 112 offers out-about 3-4 times more than SMU

East Coast Mustang wrote:I believe it was Stallion who mentioned in another thread that for whatever reason the West Coast schools are slower to give out offers than those in other parts of the country. Also, UCLA and USC already have 5-star QBs committed for this cycle. Other big-name schools like Michigan and Tennessee have shown interest in Kearns, but are likely waiting on decisions from other higher rated prospects at QB before offering.
I'd loosely compare him to Tyler Bray: similar skill set from CA, not a lot of offers out of college (Bray's other two besides TN were Fresno and SDSU) despite being ranked #141 nationally by Rivals, but I'd say he was a pretty big time talent- although Bray had some maturity issues that held him back
Bray is the guy that came to my mind too actually when reading up on Kearns and the current lack of offers. Except I hope Kearns isnt as dumb as Bray was, Ive seen him out a few times back home, the engine is running but no one is driving the car if you know what I mean.

10 of the top 25 pro qbs are already committed, including 6 of the top 13 and this kid is #9 and doesn't have another offer? something else has to be off. Maybe rivals just missed.
I'm not saying the kid sucks and he seems like a good kid, I'm just pointing out facts.

The hypocrisy on this board is astounding. You guys spent the entire 2014 recruiting season criticizing he coaches for not going after higher rated players, and then when we get a 4 star recruit on campus you guys try to find all the negatives in him. Please take off the June hate blindfolds, and give him credit if he deserves credit

I don't really care how highly a guy is rated by some service (that I pay for) I care more about the offers and what actual football coaches think. Reality is that, as of now, he's just another guy that June is going after that he has no competition for and that's disappointing, but not a change from the status qou. Hopefully some other coaches think highly of him and offer, but for someone so highly rated, it's alarming to have no other offers this far down the road. ESPN even put out an article today about how the top qbs in the 2015 class have their clock ticking to make a decision.

For comparison's sake, he is a 3-star, 88 overall on 247. That would have made him our highest rated commit in last year's class (Gresham was an 86).
Over on ESPN he's also a 4-star and rated even higher there than Rivals, as the 196th best player in the nation.
