Moody QuestionI've been asked by some friends about the use of the balcony area with #PonyUp flashed on it during basketball games. It's always empty. I know it has been brought up before, and I can't remember what was said, but does anyone know how the athletic department plans to better utilize that space in the future? Seems like it could be used to get more fans in Moody. There will be a major scramble for season tickets shortly. I can't wait to renew mine!
Re: Moody Question
It's not really a balcony, that's the problem. It's an opening to the concourse below that provides a view of the court from the hall of game club. I believe the original plans were for it to be a balcony though. Not sure why it wasn't completed.
Re: Moody QuestionOkay thanks, good explanation. Hopefully, Hart has a plan to get folks in that area.
Re: Moody QuestionI hope they gather some minds this offseason and do something about the bathroom problem at Moody. A $47 million renovation and redesigned sports venue and someone forgot about the bathrooms. It is really shocking how poorly this worked out after such a major renovation. The bathrooms are ridiculously crowded at halftime with lines that begin to block the major arteries that ring Moody. The bathrooms must be expanded somehow. Even-though it would be unsightly and a real blemish on the people that were in charge of the redesign, maybe they should bring in Porta Potties and have them outside.

Re: Moody Question
Just face it, it is a by-product of selling beer at Moody. Good problem to have! ![]()
Re: Moody QuestionThey need to improve the lines for beer too
Re: Moody QuestionThe lines aren't too bad overall, but the crowd seems to be unevenly distributed.
Re: Moody QuestionIt would help greatly till move the beer into a kiosk across from a concession stand. Now you have beer and bathroom lines on top of each other at the turns

Moody QuestionServing from the cans at separate stands is silly as well. I'm sure theres a good reason for it but I can't reckon what it is

Re: Moody Question
Yes. It would be much better if they added kegs to the regular concession areas, like they have at the AAC. Having to open cans and pour slows down the process. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: Moody QuestionBack to the original question, I have heard they are going to open that area up next year as a location for a club like common season ticket area.
Re: Moody QuestionAs for beer, they should serve in those aluminum cans like they do at most sports venues. The pouring from cans makes the lines needlessly long. But we shouldnt complain about this too much, the fact they serve beer in the first place is awesome

Re: Moody Question
My guess would be that they don't want beer cans in people's (student's) hands during games on national television. Cups are more conspicuous for PR reasons. Especially the first year of a program which has drawn some criticisms from the locals. As for kegs. I know there's a rule against kegs on campus, but people have kegs on the BLVD right? Kegs and some highly trained individuals that know the art of minimal foam keg pouring. 2009 Ponyfans Rookie of the Year
Re: Moody QuestionSMU is very green, as well. The cans recycle easily. Also, see the cup rule for the blvd. It's an image thing. RGT doesn't like the sight of cans and bottles piling up.
Re: Moody Questionany of our students could train them on how to pour from a keg. that might actually be a help.
Also you cant throw a cup very far. A can is easily thrown pretty far. we will not ever be handing cans out, so everyone can forget about that. also - right before half time they know they are going to get slammed - so they should get about twenty of each flavor ready and get the first 40 people in line done quickly. Football will have way more people (hopefully) so they need to think about more people or more stations or some other solution.
