Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariOf the incomming Freshman who have committed to Kentucky, who would we want playing at SMU (given the chance)?
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
I believe all of them, like Mudiay, have already signed their LOIs 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariThis might be a naive question, but is Calipari really that great of a coach? I know he's an excellent recruiter, but I just don't see how his skills will translate to the nba whatsoever.
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
Didn't work out real well with the Nets........ Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariHe most likely will stay at Kentucky at about $7 million/year.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariNow rumors are flying about Ollie going to the NBA. I guess it's the nature of the beast.

SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariI don't see Ollie leaving. I think he wants to be the next Calhoun at UConn.
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariCal stays put, Ollie goes to the NBA..............
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
Agreed. UConn is his alma mater; he won't be going anywhere On a side note, remember after our first game with UConn, when their were some grumblings by their fans about their coach? "[College] referees couldn't manage a White Castle." -Mark Cuban
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
Care to place a friendly wager on that? SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
If Kevin Ollie leaves, you can have all of the bragging rights in the world ![]() "[College] referees couldn't manage a White Castle." -Mark Cuban
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
only randle? i've read that three will most likely be leaving with first round potential, with the twins as also leaving as fringe first-rounders. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference CalipariThe Harrison Twins are not ready for the NBA yet. Definitely good players, but really lots of room for improvement. Maybe with one more year. Read that Dakari Johnson, James Young, and Marcus Lee are all possible first round picks, really borderline first round picks. They need to all stay in school. Julius Randle is really the only player who is NBA ready.
No way that Kevin Ollie goes to the Lakers after his short college coaching career. Let alone his short overall coaching career. The guy has not been a coach for very long. Definitely more possible that Coach Cal jumps to the Lakers. Dominos could fall with Cal going to Lakers, Sean Miller going to Kentucky, the Wichita State Coach going to Arizona, who knows? Regaring Kentucky's incoming recruiting class. I stand corrected. They have 4 All-American's coming in next season (thought they had more). Tyler Ulis (PG 5'9"), Devin Booker (SG 6'6"), Karl Towns Jr (C 7'1"), Trey Lyles (PF 6'9"). Yes all these guys have signed an LOI with Kentucky, but if Coach Cal leaves any of these guys could be looking for a new school and could be released from their LOI. When these guys signed they thought that they were going to be coached by Coach Cal, reason enough to be released from LOI. There is definitely precedent. SMU does not need a PG, so I would be fine if we went after any of the other 3... Booker, Towns Jr, or Lyles. Thoughts?
Re: Rex Chapman Tweet Reference Calipari
You are exactly right that Cal's experience with the Nets was not very good. He had issues with every aspect of the pro game from front office issues, loss of control, union issues, agents telling him when and how to play their clients and dealing with spoiled pro athletes who did not want to be coached. At the time he left the Nets the media accounts of the totality of his issues with the NBA would leave one thinking that he would never consider returning to the NBA.
