A Big East hoops reunion could be a long shot for Connecticut – the school would need the AAC or another football conference to accept an affiliation agreement that wouldn’t include basketball. Then again, we seem to be moving beyond the era of the traditional conference, so don’t discount anything. For Ollie, selling a schedule against Villanova and Georgetown will help more than selling one against SMU and Cincinnati.

lol. What garbage. The AAC is primed to be one of the top two or three basketball conferences in the nation moving forward. UConn, Memphis, SMU, Cincinnati, Temple, and maybe Houston will be good programs. Maybe one of the newbies from CUSA will help a little. The Big East schools made their bed. Let them rot.

I agree, the AAC will never let UConn leave the conference for basketball and remain for other sports. The Forbes guy simply has no respect for the AAC, its members or SMU for that matter. I think his opinion is only a glimpse of how the people in the east coast sports circles feel about the AAC/SMU.

The name recognition of the "Big East" will fade soon enough. Georgetown isn't a lock to get back on track, Nova will probably stay a top 25 team, Creighton will most likely drop now that McDermott has graduated and Butler has already fallen off the map since their coach left just like Marquette's coach.
