I now live in Las Vegas and have 4 UNLV Rebels Basketball tickets in the 2nd row baseline. We pay $11,500 a year for the 4 seats. Works out to $7,500 for Rebel Athletic Fund Donation and $4,000 for the 4 season seats.

How does that pricing compare to SMU's new structure?

Comparable for like lower corners, 1K per seat for tickets, 1.5K per seat for donation. There are no "baseline" lower levels available, band and students. So about 1.5K less. And your Rebs are going to be LOADED in a year or two. Seen a couple of your commits play this year, beasts. Goodluck is gonna be a rim protector to the nth degree and you got a serious scorer coming in with Vaughn from Findlay Prep. Man that dude can score the basketball. If you guys hadn't lost the sharpshooter to transfer out of Mater Dei, Reinhardt, could've been really good this year.

How much is getting a raise for Ulric Maligi and he rest of the coaching staff worth to you guys? To me I think it would be a catastrophe if SMU didn't retain him prior to this big 2015 DFW oreiented Class. Santa (David Miller) can't pay for all the bills around here if SMU wants a Big Time program.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

You mean the pricing that hasn't been announced or the misunderstood pricing that some knucklehead pulled from somewhere long before notices went out to season ticket holders but still automatically assumed this was it and then all of the sheeple on this aboard naturally assumed it was true and couldn't be bothered when told that link/PDF was NOT accurate?

Just trying to understand your question.

Lot of National Championships in that Top 10 of prices...

I think the point is we are worth it this year and were worth it last year and if we want to price our sporting events like airlines then that is the departments choice. I just feel like we "go for the throat" at every opportunity and it really does not sit well with the guys that have supported the program with season tickets for years and they are "rewarded" with this increase. Yes it is affordable entertainment when faced with the prospect of going to a Mavs or Cowboys games but you are starting to get a backlash there as well. Cuban recognizes it. You could not drag me to a Cowboy game, but there is a sucker born every minute. You know how fast Dallas fans turn on their teams. National Championship or Bust!

A lot of discussion over whether this team is worth the price increase. The other factor, however, is whether the schedule is worth it. With the news Daniels is leaving UCONN it is now highly likely that not one top 25 will visit this season. There will be big names (Arkansas, UCONN, Memphis, Cinncinati) but no "big" games - we should be favored by 10+ going into every single one. Now that is fun - but it is a very different kind of fun from this season, where all of the press was about the "atmosphere." Moody will not be nearly as loud this season because we will be blowing everyone out.

I keep hoping for a Wichita State/VCU announcement, but it keeps not coming . . .

We shouldn't show up or pay to see the opponent, we should show up/pay to see OUR team. OUR team is worth the price of admission

Right on LA Mustang.
This SMU team is the draw not the visiting team. I don't know how long it has since that has happened.

Mudiay is a human highlight reel. NM, KF,MK are all high quality players. I don't care who SMU plays, I will be there and can't wait to watch that talent.

Regarding the pricing.... I'm a current STH and raising the price to $400 each isn't a big deal.

I think SMU needs to take care those that have shown loyalty over the years. I can even see them creating season ticket pricing tiers based on number consecutive years a person buys season tickets.

The casual fan won't come support a bad product so you might as well charge the market rate for a good product. So let's not think we are building brand loyalty by charging low prices.
We win- the casual fan comes to games.

To have a top staff and recruiting tools ( planes, budget ect) , you need revenue and I believe that when the staff delivers a great team the fan base should be willing to pay more for tickets that creates funding to reward the staff.

If the team is the attraction I will watch it on television where I can see the team much better than I can in the corner in my $500 seats. Mark Cuban is correct in that you go to the game for the atmosphere. Atmosphere is correlated to who you are playing. I am not saying that a good team can't generate an atmosphere, or that my seats may not be worth $500. I am saying that it is a direct consideration in whether to pay $1,000 for two tickets or pay my rent for the month.

Man, there is almost a depressing amount of whining going on here. Guys that go out and spend 200 bucks a night buying drinks for ugly girls are complaining about paying basically 40 bucks a seat for the best college basketball team in DFW and probably the best in Texas. There is nothing that cheap in the entire sports ticket offering in Dallas. The issue is not the increase. The issue is how unbelievably cheap we have been.

The teams in the AAC will reload, trust me. We will have several top 25 games.

And those that are worried we are heading back to "garland" level attendance after LB are smoking dope. This school ain't going back, regardless of conference or coach. We have seen the benefit of basketball to SMU and the investment is not going to wane.

We have to fill 7500 seats in a market of over 4 million to watch top 20 basketball. It is still a bargain, and if you disagree feel free to stay home and let someone else have a seat to watch the best show in town.

As to the 30K millionaire comment....I don't think this dude has ever been to SMU. We have actual millionaires at our games not Rust Belt union reps. Nice cheap shot though.

I just saw this, it was not intended to be a shot. Sorry if you took offense to it. I have been to SMU and am friends with many SMU alums. And yes, there is no money in the Midwest, everyone is broke from Chicago to Pittsburgh. And some wonder why SMU is viewed as elitist or arrogant? I love watching Brown coach and the Ponies so it doesn't bother me, but it can't be that hard to see why there is a stigma. Again, sorry if you took offense to the comment, was not intended to be a cheapshot as I know there are many wealthy alum from SMU, the endowment speaks for itself.

I think I'll wait and see what the real pricing is before reacting but you can't go from Tulane to UK in one year in seat pricing. Stupid.
