I've stated that homosexuality won't ultimately bring those who choose it fulfillment. I never suggested we stop anyone from pursuing the choice. It's a tragedy not a crime.

Please, SMUstatesman, PLEASE remove SMU from the statesman part of your name when you express your opinions. It is going to humiliate so many of us who want this university to move into the 21st century. And PONYBOY, you might inquire with some people who are thoughtful - possibly even in the Perkins School of Theology - before you assume your position is neat and tidy.

Good to see the vote for the special seat failed. Having sex with an atypical partner shouldn't entitle you to a spot on the student senate; the respect of your peers should.

I am not sure that a separate seat is needed but what may be atypical for you maybe perfectly normal for someone else. Just saying.

Sorry that Harry Reid's statement hurt you tender feelings by assimilation. Lets kiss and make up !

With the Neanderthal attitudes expressed here, it is obvious that a known gay person could not be elected to the student senate. Therefore, the seat is needed to provide representation. Maybe then some will get to know that gay people are like anyone else.

I hear you and I don't assume a neat and tidy position. We should all constantly be on guard for that -- thanks for the reminder. Look, Tim Keller, from your neighborhood over at Redeemer, has a very respectful and thoughtful take on homosexuality that mirrors mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dY0ZTuFGCEBTW, I'm curious what Billy Abraham's position on the subject is over at Perkins.

Isn't our current and two time student body president gay as well?

Why do you need "a position" on homosexuality if you are not gay?

How judgmental and condescending - oh now I get it, I see where you live.
