That's too bad. Did not use to be that way. But that has been more than serveral years ago. Why is it a wasteland today do you think?

In the last 10-15 years there has been a large surge of Mexicon families moving into the West Texas region. Lot of the kids play football but they are not very big.

I actually thought you were probably kidding. What is sad is, I grew up in the days when Midland Lee and Odessa Permian were taking it to everyone in Texas. So strange that all of that is now a football wasteland. Indeed, the starting quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers when I was in high school was from Big Spring. Friday night football in the Panhandle was the real deal. Things change I guess and they no longer play football in West Texas anymore.

Midland use to be 80%-85% white collar and Odessa was all blue collar but the majority of the population had always been white. From a demographic standpoint, the 80's oil bust had a bigger impact on Odessa than Midland for obvious reasons. The change in Midland began in the mid 90's and since the discovery of the Cline shale around 06-07, Midland's Mexicon population has exploded. I was told about a year ago Midland is no longer a white majority town. The school district has been Mexicon majority for several years. All of the smaller towns out in this part of the state are nothing more than an extension of Mexico and it is becoming the same way in Midland and Odessa. It is sad in many ways

Used to be that you raised hell in Odessa and you raised a family in Midland. Now that's still true you just have to speak Spanish to do either.

That's what they get for stupidly allowing unlimited immigration from a neighboring country.
