Thx for the update 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: A home OOC opponent identified
Maybe they can come to Moody in 2015
Re: A home OOC opponent identifiedMy kids graduated from Monmouth. Nice small private university in Monmouth County, NJ roughly 50 miles south of NYC. School was built on the family estate grounds of President Woodrow Wilson and later the CEO of Woolworth and Co. who built a huge mansion on the property and raised horses. The original mansion is the current administration building and was once featured as the home of Daddy Warbucks in the movie version of Annie. School property at one time had a direct view and access onto the Atlantic Ocean and beach. School had little going in terms of athletics until 1994 when they decided to become DIv. I. At times they have been very competitive in women's soccer placing 2 gals on the US Olympic and World Cup squads in the late 90s/early 2000s. Baseball has been strong making the NCAA regional tournament a number of times. Yep, Miles Austin of the Cowboys attended Monmouth. My son-in-law was a small college All-American and captain of the Monmouth team when Austin was there. As far as basketball, Monmouth has been competitive in their conference, but the conference is rather weak. Yes, Monmouth has had some automatic bids to the NCAA tourney based on conference championships, but have generally been given the lowest seed and picked up the number #1 seed on several occasions. I recall Duke butchering them in the tourney several times. I am not sure what this game accomplishes other than a good practice game. I would have like SMU to have played a NYC team for better publicity and recruiting purposes.
Re: A home OOC opponent identified
Thanks, Pocono. I agree. Good excuse to do a recruiting trip to the northeast (and pick up a W) indeed.
Re: A home OOC opponent identified
Sorry, I'm just not one of these who thinks we need a killer OOC schedule (yes definitely schedule a few "name" schools) but we didn't not make the tourney bc of a poor OOC - we didn't make it to the Tourney because we didn't beat the teams we should have (Temple, USF, Houston - should have beat UVA, too).
Re: A home OOC opponent identifiedIn addition to Arkansas and Wyoming. Wouldn't mind a Marquette, Seton Hall, UNLV type of game at Moody.
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: A home OOC opponent identifiedInvite Virginia Tech to play at Moody.
!!!!
Re: A home OOC opponent identifiedJust win the conference tournament easiest way to get in.
Re: A home OOC opponent identified
That's pretty disappointing. Am guessing UCI isn't on the schedule either since we haven't heard a peep about that. ![]()
Re: A home OOC opponent identified
UCI (Cal Irvine) or UIC (Illinois-Chicago) you talking about? If it's UIC (Illinois-Chicago) was announced before last years game in Chicago as a home-and-home. . . Not that I'm exactly thrilled to watch UIC ![]() 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
