Missing Mustang Mania Poster - Lakewood 1st and 10

Post by Sic_em »

Need some help here Mustang fans. It's a longshot, but I thought I'd try, just in case...

I owned a vintage Mustang Mania football poster. It was a large poster that had a compilation of pictures on it...Emanuel Tolbert, Mike Ford, the Dallas skyline, etc. I had it when I was in HS and rediscovered it a few years ago when my parents were moving and I was helping them pack up.

I wanted to share the poster with Mustang Fans, so I worked out an arrangement where the poster would be displayed at Lakewood 1st and 10.

The last time I was in, I noticed it wasn't hanging at its usual spot. I even checked the Plano 1st and 10 to make sure it wasn't moved there. I finally talked to the owner who told me the poster had been stolen from the Lakewood location.

He wasn't completely sure, but felt like it might have been a fraternity prank where some guys were on a scavenger hunt.

He is a stand-up guy and really felt bad about it and has offered to compensate me by giving me an item from his SMU memorabilia collection...a very generous gesture on his part.

But before I take him up on his offer, I thought I'd make an effort to locate the poster. Of course, I have no idea where it is...maybe a dorm room, apartment, or fraternity house. My name and contact info is written on the back of the frame it was in. Needless to say, I'd really like to have it back and I'm not looking to get anyone in trouble...no questions asked. I'd just like to get the poster back.

If anyone has any information about this, please send me a private message. Thanks for reading through this message and I'd really appreciate any help I can get in tracking down this poster.

Man hate to hear that. It's tough losing something so unique. Good luck. Hope it turns up.

FWIW, I recall when you first announced that you had discovered that poster, and then decided to loan it out. It was suggested and requested that the poster be scanned and printed so others could enjoy the nostalgia. Sadly, no response was heard from the donee. If copies had been made at that time, as least the loss wouldn't be so great, as you would at least have reproductions. Hopefully, the next classic poster discovered might be copied before being shipped off?

I have a framed poster like the one in question on this tread. I also have a 1979 Mustang Mania football schedule poster. I would happily have them reproduced if anyone can tell me how.

Thanks ponyte, I would obviously be interested in a copy of the poster I had stolen.

cutter, I remember the topic coming up several years ago, but I believe I had already given the poster to 1st and 10 to display. I also didn't expect an SMU fan to steal the poster.

I believe the query at that time was directed to 1st and 10 in the hope that the poster could be copied and shared with the rest of pony nation, but no response was forthcoming. Such is life.
Looks like ponyte will save the day.

Apparently it is known that an SMU fan stole the poster so it should be easy to find out who has it.
