SMU Helmet History

Post by 50's PONY »

FYI

"SMU helmet history/seasonal summaries are up at Helmet Hut, a great history that I hope everyone enjoys. Some of the truly great names: Doak Walker, Kyle Rote, Raymond Berry, Don Meredith, Jerry Levias, and one of my all time favorites, John LaGrone among others. Very nice helmet collection too."

For some of the "guests" receiving this, just click onto each helmet noted for complete summary of those seasons. Thank you to everyone at SMU Heritage Hall who assisted, especially Owen and Mr. York.

63-65 truly a classic
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

That '63 helmet could make for a SWEET throwback jersey for a homecoming game. does anyone have a color photo of the uniforms we wore during that time?

Really love the 73-75 helmets. They look so original and we could put little Hawaiian warrior spears stickers on them.

The 46-56 are pretty cool as well.

I agree, the 80's helmet is the best.
