Man, some of you are hellbent on [deleted] on anyone that commits to SMU under June
Seems like a valid point to me. I'd hardly call it [deleted] on someone.

The more I read about this guy, the more I like it.

I contacted some writers about McCrary. A guy at the American-Statesman wrote back, saying he hadn't seen Rouse HS play, but he would ask a free-lancer they use. I don't know the reporter, but here are the comments that were sent back to me:
"Yes, I have seen Billy McCrary play several times (3 times last year). I have been covering high school football around Austin (and Leander) for 11 years, and simply put, he's the best athlete I have ever seen. He has run a 4.4 (laser) and in the 4.3s (hand-held), and looks faster than that. It's simple: when he gets out in space, he scores a lot of the time. He played quarterback most of the time but was their best runner by far with 1200 or 1300 yards and more than 20 rushing touchdowns. He's real strong too. He benches over 300 pounds, has a 40+ vertical jump. He's a great kid, smart and he's a winner - he carried his team in the state playoffs the last two years, and he's the only D-I player on that whole roster. I don't know what position SMU is playing him at, but they got an absolute steal. He is a great playmaker."

He has the 10th highest SPARQ rating of all athletes/all classes in the country. The site that tracks SPARQ says that includes 7,000 athletes but from 7th through 12th grade

If he was heavy on P5 offers, we would not get him. We need to aim for the kids that have the top G5 schools offering (Boise, UCF, BYU, Fresno etc.) and maybe 1 or 2 Low to mid tier BCS schools (Northwestern, Wake, North Carolina State for example..). Kids that have USC, LSU, UT and Alabama are longshots, even if we were in the ACC/Big 12..

We need to go up against the best, longshot or not (see SMU basketball). Relying on table scraps won't get us anything more than mediocrity.

A lot of moving parts but maybe in 2015-2016 we are looking at some serious talent at the skill positions:
QB Matt Davis - 4 star w/ multiple BCS offers RB Daniel Gresham - High 3 star w/ multiple BCS offers WR Jeremiah Gaines - High 3 star w/ multiple BCS offers WR James Proche - High 3 star w/ multiple BCS offers WR Billy McCrary II - 3 star w/ at least 1 BCS offer WR Shelby Walker - 3 star w/ multiple BCS offers WR Jordan Ingram - 2 star w/ sub-4.4 speed and a TCU offer WR Kadeem Goulbourne (?) - 3 star w/ multiple BCS offers if he comes back from injury
Back off Warchild seriously.

Yeah there are some interesting talents there. Davis, Gresham and Gaines have star potential if used in the right system. Though we need to get some premium defensive talent in here to build a complete team.

What is the real story with WR Kadeem Goulbourne. A lot of confusion on signing date. He claims he signed-SMU didn't include him on their list. Did he sign just a grant-in-aid? Greyshirt? Has he qualified? Will we ever see him in Dallas? This fall? Mid-term?

I don't feel like looking but off the top do we know if we have any defensive redshirts from the 13 class as well as any gray shirts?

That's not pooing on him, it's a question. So, not this. Love the music on the highlight.

I saw Gresham and Ngalo a few days ago (didn't get a chance to talk to them, but will soon). Suffice to say, they look really strong … especially for freshmen. Very interested to see how they look when they take the field.
