His coaching ability just about won the national championship out of a 9 seed and team that was written off midway through the year. Do the math. I feel like you would argue Coach K blows because he has talent and they exited the tourney against Mercer in the first round. I'm done wasting my breathe on your posts, just diarrhea being spewed at this point.

Chnash18 -
That is a very good analogy. Mack Brown --> John Calipari. Think about that OBF.

OBF-
Let's don't even bring up Duke. No comparison there. Duke is Top 10 Team almost every year, year round. Duke does not slip to #24 in the AP, or not make the NCAA Tournament. Duke is not a #9 Seed. Duke plays a loaded schedule every year and wins. Head to head Duke has beaten Kentucky more times than not. No doubt Duke was beat in the NCAA Tournament by the better team that day. Congrats to Mercer. They deserved to win that day. Comparing Duke's season last year to Kentucky's is laughable. Coach K "coaches" and develops his players. Yes he and his staff can recruit, but Coach K does not rely on talent alone to win games. He is probably the best college coach in the game. If not the best, definitely top 2 or 3 "coach".

You can't have it both ways. Either you think Calipari is a good coach or not. First you tell us that he recruits well and coaches talented players, bringing player egos together to sacrifice for the team. Never acknowledging that Calipari and Kentucky had a down year last season. (Actually a down last 2 years, NIT) Now you are saying that Calipari "just about won the national championship out of a #9 seed team that was written off midway through the year." Good spin. :) Now you are telling us that Cal is some kind of savior for coaching his team up in the NCAA Tournament? Yes Kentucky won games in the tournament, but all games were extremely close. Kentucky did not roll teams. With the talent on his roster last year his team under performed during the season and really if you are honest, under performed in the NCAA Tournament. This has been my point all along.

Don't remember you acknowledging the NIT either. Let's don't even bother talking about anything like that. Making the NIT with Kentucky's roster sounds like quite an accomplishment. Funny how you avoid talking about Calipari's stint in the NBA. Not very memorable for an All-World Coach :) My guess is that it is a lot easier to coach a bunch of McD AA college players than a bunch of average NBA Players. Wait a minute, I bet a lot of average college coaches would say the same thing.

YES I DID recognize he had a bad regular season as 7 freshmen went through growing pains. Do you read anything? No different than LB letting experience lose to Houston, South Florida and Temple or whoever the losses were. No different than Matta letting OSU lose to Northwestern and Penn State. I've never once wavered on the argument. You don't comprehend well.

I comprehend all your posts just fine, thanks. First you tell me he is a great coach because he can do more with more. Now you recognize that Kentucky had a bad regular season with 7 talented Freshmen. I guess in your eyes that is the players' fault. Let's chalk it up to growing pains. Probably has nothing to do with "coaching", right? Who really needs a good "coach" anyway, right? Just like making the NIT the previous year and losing to Robert Morris, had nothing to do with coaching. Again, probably all the young players' fault. Now I understand :) Agree to disagree.

John Calipari took over a Memphis program that was in the gutter and had them one missed FT away from a national title against Kansas. Your nonsensical vendetta against Calipari is absurd. Yes, he's a slimeball but he's a phenomenal coach and recruiter. Please keep ripping him for being a 9 seed in the same season he took his team to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

Calipari really sold me on his coaching talents in this year's tournament, and I hate him. It was a fantastic job on his part.

Didn't some wins get vacated at UMass and Memphis?

Yes Calipari was caught at UMASS and Memphis. Don't remember the specifics, but I am pretty sure Derrick Rose didn't take his own SAT. Whatever you do don't bring up any recruiting violations. Don't say anything bad about Calipari. Not here. Whatever you do don't bring up Calipari's inability to "coach". No need to state the truth here. According to OBF, LA Mustang, couch'em, East Coast Mustang, and Harry... Coach Cal is the end all be all "coach" in college basketball. Whatever you do don't start talking about how Coach Cal's Kentucky teams have under performed.

Just between you and me, I am pretty sure that it is possible that if you give any average "coach" a team with x number of McD AAs, he might look good on occasion. Recruiting violations or not.

It takes "coaching" ability to bring the best out of your players so they can reach their potential. And again, no I do no have a vendetta against Calipari. I just don't think he is a good coach.

I am not saying you are right or wrong. I just don't see what you are basing your opinion on. You can point to many things to label Mack Brown as all recruiting no coaching. What do you point to with Calipari? All his teams built to elite performance. Are you arguing that his recruiting was so dominant that something like a final 4 is clearly underperforming?
