Cool stuff ponyboy. A&M has a Christian values vibe too. When I was trick or treating in the UP hood with my son last year, a dad answered the door and said that despite being a UT grad and big fan, he sent his oldest to A&M. He says it's a good, Christian place and he's converting to an Aggy fan.
In a separate occasion, another dad, whose son was a freshman at Baylor last year, asked our friend (a UT grad) if he'd consider sending his sophomore daugther to A&M because it's such a "good" school. I'm an Aggy hater so I dispute all that, especially having attended a large public undergrad.
I figure that SMU is as religious as one makes it out to be. There's a robust Wednesday night bible study group -- http://smu128.com/ -- but I'm not sure how far beyond that it goes. I've heard that maybe 10% go to Sunday services. Some count Wed. night as their sort of weekly fellowship. The president is a devout Christian and my wife (a professor) is part of a faculty/staff bible study. I suppose the Christian influence is much larger at a school like Baylor.
