It's hard to believe how many still haven't a clue about us. Many shouldn't say anything about us because it is not correct information.
That word was used as a racial slur against one of my ancestors by the US government when those guys killed her in Boggy Depot, Oklahoma in the 1890s. That is when some of my family left and some stayed in Oklahoma.
I believe if it were a black issue there would not be such a push back.
I didn't want to take time out of my World Cup time for this.

Someone in the Twittersphere changed the Redskins logo to Elizabeth Warren's face...I thought that was an A+ effort.

I was not outraged about serving beer. I don't mind people drinking beer. I don't want drunks throwing bottles, vomiting and such things and you know that.
I've already talked about Indian stuff on this board before and I'm seeing the same old stuff being said. The same stuff being misunderstood etc.
Telling people "this is the same user....". It seems like you're trying to get people to jump in with you. I'm telling you real facts. I'm telling some family history of what happened when my ancestor who was forced, as a child from where she lived in the South, on the trail of tears and later killed by the government when in the 1890s when the US wanted to take her home away from her again and make a change from reservation land to allotment lands.
Earlier this year I was interviewed by an Oklahoma historian about my family history and my ancestor because her name is in the history books because the US recorded what they did.
And you bring up beer stuff because you're a little dickie man.

I'm just saying we couldn't have a functioning society if we had to steer clear of anything and everything that might offend people like you. It's perfectly within your rights to protest the Redskins and boycott their sponsors, but the federal government shouldn't be in the business of devaluing billion-dollar assets because some people on the fringe are offended.

Also- it looks like my prediction of 2.5 pages was a tad low, but with the help of the always insightful alyssa, this thread should be gone in no time.

My great grandmother and great aunt were Cherokee Princess's who were marched on the trail of tears and forced into marriage by two of the wranglers on the trip, thus I'm here today. Woopitido that stuff happened 120 years ago, Mine too (maybe we're related in a round about way....that'd be odd). None of us cares about the word redskin. No need to get so butt hurt

There were no "Princess's". "Woopitido" and "120 years ago" tells me a lot about what you don't know about the past and what the problems are today because of the past. Dr. Anton Treuer explains a lot of them. My family is well off financially so I'm not looking for money like I hear some people suggest we are doing, say like on the radio, but there are tribal peoples living so poor on reservations and not on reservations. These things need to be understood and corrected. Well, I could tell a lot of personal stories about going to reservations to give help and the things I saw over the years are some really graphic stuff.

The past has not left these peoples.

If you don't care about the word then that's just how it is but it is a racial slur and I don't see the "N" word on this board like I see the word that you say "none of us cares about".

And I know there are ponyfans who do care because I read the posts.

This is way more about the government being able to establish what is acceptable to the public
to see, than about offending some extremely sensitive small group of some minority group.

Kinda scary :!: :!: :!:

The fact that anyone is arguing against this change is proof they're ignorant. It is an offensive word to a group of people who were here way before most. Change it and move on.

The fact that it is a "small" group is irrelevant.

Fine. I find Notre Dame's use of Irish and their drunken leprechaun image to be offensive to my people. Please revoke their trademark.

I respect most of your posts but that is such a ridiculous argument.

Trail of Tears was about 185 years ago I believe at or around the time of President Andrew Jackson.

What the difference between Redskin and

China-man
Black boy
Brownie
Yellow
Colored

I wonder if Red Neck is considered an offensive slur under trademark law. If it is it would certainly be persuasive
