Thanks for taking the overreaction response. I figured someone was going to go there because they believe an artificial agent is the only way to get people excited. You're giving the students too little credit.

Now, they'll be creative and find a way to circumvent that. I'm sure SMU is in the midst of adjusting everything based on what it did for the 12 basketball games.

But as long as the majority of people learn how to handle this revenue concept the right way, this could be a financial windfall for the athletics department.

Why reduce the number for students?

Well, since I'm being portrayed as Mother Cabrini by the "no we can't have fun without the alcohol" crowd, my thinking is that 3 possibly puts a good number in the buzz stage (who knows how much they've consumed before the game). Two is thought to be a safer number to reduce the risk. Plus, they're still getting the beer, aren't they? Alcohol tolerance per individual is subjective. Is reducing it from 3 to 2 a big difference? I guess that depends on who you ask. It's just my view that reducing risk because other factors are involved (driving comes to mind) is a better way to go.

SMU likely has all of the information to make a policy decision that should work moving forward in 2014-15.

But it reads like some of you would rather see the students plow it down, potentially get behind the wheel and see if they can successfully pull it off.

Probably initially because of SMU's rule that no kegs are allowed on campus - if you recall from your fraternity days. I thought it was a school-imposed rule, though, (that came with a massive fine,) but if that's the case, they should be able to circumvent their own rules.

WOW, no kegs. When I was a freshman and the drinking age was 21, my dorm had University-organized mixers with girls dorms at White Rock Lake. Also, kegs on the University-organized buses to the Cotton Bowl. All Hail Willis Tate!

I had been told when I was a freshman that it was the city of University Park that didn't allow kegs at certain "parties". To Quote: " The city of University park is a 'dry' area, which prohibits kegs; kegs are also prohibited by university policy" from the SMU Gameday policy. http://smu.edu/studentlife/PDF/SMU_Stud ... _12-13.pdf also the SMU hand book doesn't really give any reason why kegs should be banned. Maybe someone can get this changed for reasons of serving at Gamedays. Also I realize the UP is now Wet.

I love how you talk about the "overreaction" earlier in the thread and then you drop this little bomb at the end of your post, which is a total overreaction not to mention a complete straw man argument.

Either that, or you were joking - which I hope is the case, and if so...

Let them drink their 3 beers. We are not in a position to twist anyone's arms right now, much less scare away our new fans from Moody and Ford.
