This is probably a 1-year blip with them anyway because of the scheduling. I know after the 2005 win in football, we didn't play them in 2006.

I think so too. We should open up their newly renovated arena in 2015 as the defending national champions with a 30-pt beatdown

Um, wasn't that because they moved from C-USA to the Mountain West and couldn't work out the schedule?

B1GPonyfan won this thread. Some of you guys are so hung up on old SWC squads, it's sad. Just like hoops, give me nationally relevant opportunities for w's, not some mid to lower tier Big 12 team that is only good for a stadium takeover. You might as well sell the home game and get the check

I hear you, but check this . . .

Texas HS talent is among the best in the country. We want to land some of those guys and be seen as truly the king of the hill here over Baylor, Texas, and Ok St. Also, and I'm sorry to feel this way and I'm sure it's just me, but we have a lot of payback to give. Call me petty, but that's just the way I see it. Why not beat the [deleted] out of Texas and Baylor and ALSO play some national powerhouses. I get what you're saying and agree. I don't see why we can't have our cake and eat it, too, while we have LB here and have some talent.

For football we ain't replacing tcu with "nationally relevant" anything. Not to mention our inability to compete with anyone decent besides tcu

I think hoopmanx needs to stick to talking hoops.

Anyone who thinks our football program is going to increase its stature and reputation by scheduling four Sun Belt/Southland teams is kidding themselves. And it's not like Wisconsin or Arkansas is lining up to play a game at Ford

but there is no one here to discuss hoops with, unfortunately....

Nobody is talking about dropping TCU for a Sun Belt/Southland team. TCU is just a mid tier P5 team at best, not that hard to replace. Please stop empowering them by thinking they're worth a crap. Big 12 has made them richer, but a whole lot less prestigious nationally.

hoop is right. Two more years in the bottom of the big 12 barrel and they will fade dramatically.

We've been playing TCU in football for what, 80 years? Why suddenly get rid of that rivalry? The loss of traditional rivalries is one of the biggest problems with college football today.

No one is going to give a rip in the Dallas sports community if we beat the Little Sisters of the Poor on Saturday. So who do you suggest replacing TCU with? Another "mid-tier" P5 team? Who are you even going to get to play us at Ford? I'm sure people would get really excited for us to play Kentucky, Iowa State or Utah. I think we drew under 20K for Washington State a few years back. This is one of the dumbest arguments I've ever seen on PF and that's obviously saying a lot.

18,184 at Ford in 2010 for Washington State. 35,481 for the TCU game six days later.

Yeah, let's drop TCU from our football schedule.

So is the bashing of the 2014-15 SMU OOC men's basketball schedule by the nitwits who they think they know all there is to know about schedule.

BTW, whatever with TCU

Bashing the schedule before the season is played is stupid IMO. Michigan and IU could be juggernauts this year, or they could be NIT teams. Predicting how "tough" an OOC schedule is preseason is an inexact science at best. FWIW I like our OOC schedule, I think it will give us numerous opportunities to showcase an elite team across the country.

Well, Michigan is going to be just an average team this year because they lost so much and that game in Ann Arbor should be a gimme. But where in the world is UTEP on this schedule? And why isn't UTEP coming to Moody? Geez, Larry. What's the matter with you? Should you even be coaching this team?

Umm, Washington St at the time was one of the two or three worst programs in America, P5 or not. 6 days later we drew 18,184 SMU fans and about that many TCU fans. If its the bottom line you're worried about, just sell the home game, pocket 3x as much. Go take one on the chin in Tallahassee. There was a time when schools like Ole Miss came to the Cotton Bowl religiously, and brought their folks, Arkansas too. UNC played at freakin Ownby. Don't tell me we can't get programs in, cause its been done before.

The reality is that most mid tier P5 schools that recruit Dallas, would line up to wax us. No downside for them, cause June never beats anyone he's not supposed to. Offer up a game to Kansas State, where they line up a great guest list, beat us by a sick margin, and watch the locals laugh in our general direction. That's a good look for any P5 that wants DFW kids.

In your opinion, whats wrong w/college football these days is the lack of rivalries. The TV ratings don't care about your opinion
