For the record I agree with Bob about Alabama making an excuse and about Saban's crying about the faster tempo, but I just checked OU's outtaconference sched, and Tulsa, La Tech, and SEC bottom dweller Tennessee isn't gonna scare any of his players either.

OU plays an extra league game and Tennessee is more challenging than any of A&M's.

Nobody's impressed that he has to play a Kansas, or 3 win Iowa State, or perhaps a soon-to-be-Danaless West Virginia for that ninth game. If he wants the SEC to stop taking all the attention then he is going to have to get some help from his conference mates.

1- Nobody is impressed by beating an arkansas team that was ranked 88th in the computers either or that extra two non-con cupcakes compared to OU's 9th B12 game or their p5 opponent. ISU has been a bowl team most of Rhoads tenure and WVU has been strong until last year's disaster. KU is admittedly horrible.

2- Stoops has spoken his mind on the SEC and how their defenses were overrated due to poor QB play at the time only to have Manziel, Mizzou, Aaron Murray, and Mettenberger prove him right the last year or two.

3- For the guy that says Stoops is a jealous goof, he beat Bama and A&M didn't and he has more hardware than A&M has ever dreamed of. What does he have to be jealous about?

Stoops should try not to get donkeypunched by a mediocre Texas team by 25 points this upcoming season.
Back off Warchild seriously.

the man has a point. OU plays tough OOC every year. If you think we are a legit opponent you are kidding yourself

If stoops were in the SEC he would schedule exactly the way A&M does. Because he does not play in the SEC he has to have a tougher OOC so that there is any sort of respect coming their way in the event they end up with a good record.

A&M has to go play on the road to open the season in Columbia vs South Carolina, and also travel to Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and Starkville. Not to mention the unfriendly confines of Ford Stadium!

Here's OU's slate away from Norman, in comparison:
at Tulsa
at West Virginia
at TCU
Texas neutral site
at Iowa State
at Tech

So he gets KSU, Baylor, Okie State, and Tennessee all at home.

Stoops would [deleted] his pants if he had to play A&M's schedule this year

SEC is overrated. It is easy for all most of the SEC to become bowl eligible if the only have to win two in conference games plus four cupcake teams in order to become bowl eligible. They are a top heavy conference.

But this needless debate will put to rest with the playoff system. I hope they extend it soon to 8 teams playoff

I dont know what Stoops gets out of poking the bear here. He's 0-2 vs SEC teams in national championship games and is acting like he won WW3 by winning the Sugar Bowl last year.

It would be comedy gold if Tennessee beat them in Norman this year.

They seem to do pretty well in bowls every year. 7-3 last year, and if you think they're "top heavy", their two BCS teams lost so they were 7-1 without Bama and Auburn

Go look at recruiting rankings over the past 5-10 years and tell me which conference has the most talented teams

2 issues with it:

1- Simple W/L record doesn't factor SOS. So OU's game vs Tenneessee is rated lower than A&M's vs Rice who lost several key guys and would easily lose to the vols? Come on...

2- The second issue is you don't know who is going to be good or bad each year. Arkansas and Auburn were supposed to be good in 2012 and ended up stinking. Mizzou was supposed to be bad in 2013 and ended up winning the east.

Using computer rankings over the past 2 seasons for each opponent...
OU's 2014 average ranking: 55.61
A&M's 2014 Opponents average ranking: 50.96

A&M isn't exactly facing some exponentially tougher slate.

Try taking into account where those games are being played. That seems pretty important. OU gets all of their tough games at home or in the Cotton Bowl, while A&M has to play an absolutely hellish road slate.

Mizzou was almost in the national title game and narrowly won. 11-2 South Carolina as well. They would be included in the "top heavy" part last year so the top went 2-2.

The other wins?

MSU over Rice - Meh
Vandy over UH- Meh
LSU by 7 over an average Iowa team that a bad ISU team almost came back on. - Meh
A&M over a meh Duke team in a game that they should have lost. Duke only beat 2 P5 teams with a winning record (VT, UNC) by a combined 5 points. Every other P5 they played with a pulse beat them.
Ole Miss over .500 GT- Meh
UGA defeated by an ok but not great Nebraska.

The SEC is the best league but that doesn't mean that the best can't be a tad overrated as well. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Home/road matters but so does the cumulative effect of not having as many easy games between the tough ones.

I am not saying that A&M doesn't have a tough road this year but with 14 team leagues it really depends on the schedule rotation as to how hard the schedule is. Look at Bama 2012 drawing two teams without a bowl in cross-division play and 2012 Florida drawing both A&M and LSU who were top 15.

I like how you throw in all of these little BS qualifiers to further your agenda- you conveniently forget that LSU was also without their starting QB (Mettenberger) for that "Meh" win over Iowa, and Aaron Murray was out for UGA when they lost to an "ok but not great" Nebraska team. That seems relevant, in light of everything else you consider to be relevant

A&M won but "should have lost?" Ok, that's your opinion, but they scored more points than the other team. Last time I checked, that's what matters.

Mizzou "was almost in the national title game and narrowly won" Yeah, 41-31 over an Okie State team that manhandled the Big 12 champs

11-2 South Carolina "narrowly won" by ten points over a 9-3 Wisconsin team. Nothing to be ashamed of there
