Odufuwa Commits to ASU

Postby me@smu » Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:23 am

George Odufuwa, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound combo forward from Cedar Hill (Tex.) Kimball who is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 113 prospect nationally in the 2006 class, orally committed to Arizona State this week, ASUDevils.com learned on Thursday after speaking with Odufuwa's mother and a source close to the program.

Odufuwa reported that Arizona State was in the lead for his services leading up to an official visit to Tempe in late August, and he said he enjoyed the campus and city of Tempe, but subsequent trips to SMU and Colorado led to a tightening in the recruitment.

In the end, however, Odufuwa went with the school that he felt most comfortable with from the beginning.

As a junior, Odufuwa averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocked shot per game, and he reported picked up offers from Oklahoma and Oregon in addition to Arizona State and SMU as early as December of 2004.

Rivals.com ranks Odufuwa as the No. 16 prospect in the state of Texas in the 2006 class, and the No. 29 power forward nationally.

Odufuwa is the second prospect to orally commit to play for the Sun Devils in 2006, the first being Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley guard Christian Polk.

thats tough to swallow. Would have really liked to have gotten Odufuwa. Arthur is a mega longshot right now. Not sure who our other frontcourt prospects are.

.....yeah he was the one who consistently had SMU at the top of a relatively small list. We may get shutout in Big D again. I appreciate the effort but close only counts with hand greanades......

smart kid.. I wouldn't come to SMU either
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I'll say what I had to say over on the general recruiting board about losing someone to Baylor:

Great.

Anything else?

I guess this means Arthur is about to commit to SMU. As everyone knows, we're pretty well loaded in the low post so don't have room for two offers this year. Only remaining issue is who will replace BHop next year.

Like Dement, Tubbs will fail if he cannot land the local players. Do not blame Tubbs though. Blame the policies and moron running the athletic department. Copeland sucks.

Copeland doesn't make admissions or curriculum policies. The Board of Trustees does. He may be worthless, but at least only criticize him for what he controls.
