Recruiting:
Baylor--7
Tulsa--5
SMU--2
TCU--I don't know
Help me here Stallion. I am out of my depth. I don't care to follow recruiting. I do like to see hs players in person who are recruitng targets. Tonight I will see Coppell and Euless Trinity. Trinity apparently is loaded. Nance their RB I have seen previously. I am told we had an assistant coach at the Coppell-Southlake game. I have seen a lot of players over the years who have gone on to d-1 schools. This is definitely a down year (even by our standards) for recruiting. Maybe we can win some games and get a little buzz going.
I haven't given up on the season. I honestly believe we have some real talent on this team.

And, please, tell me what SMU has to offer now that it did not have to offer 5 years ago, and how the changes have helped us improve. We are no closer to putting a winning product on the field than we were then. In fact, we hit rock bottom in the meantime.
nevermind. If you dont want to have any hope, there are plenty of reasons not to. And dont confuse over-optimism with hope, they are not the same.
My eyeballs tell me this is the best team we have had since 1997. That may not say much, but its something. Fact: SMU beat TCU. May have been lucky, maybe not, you dont know quite yet. We all will in a few weeks. Even so, its more than we have done in 5+ years. What would represent progress for you this season? What exactly would give you hope? I by no means think I am going to talk you into it.

Nothing, really. I guess my point is people had hope, 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 2 years ago and last year, and those hopes were dashed each and every year, with no improvement in the time period.

Doesn't the victory over TCU count as an improvement?

Some of you have your head up your arse. This is an improved SMU team. The wheels came of at A&M but that was poor tackling and mental mistakes. The talent is better than it has been in a while.

Here is my thought. FIRE COPELAND and then move Bennett into the AD job. Now we don't have that huge contract to pay out. Bennett is a motivator, likeable person and a great salesman. Just the kind of guy that would make a good AD. With his coaching and recruiting experience, he should be able to recognize a good FB coach for his replacement. Just 2 cents worth.
I'm starting to think that Vanderbilt got it right . . . Who needs an AD anyway? Spend the $$$ on getting good coaches in your top sports!

Improved over what? The 0-12 team of 2003? Okay, I'll give you that. We still stink. Loss to Baylor? Please.

Your rants are tiring, JT. You just [deleted]. Recommend a solution, or go somewhere else.

Finally, a solitary solution from JT. Albeit a bad one, it is a start.
I'll be at the game supporting the team.

I still think the talent is there...Mike Price would walk in and make a 7-4 team out of these guys.

.....yeah let's hear all about how we are getting better in the trenches. I've quietly listened to that crap for the last time. 80% of them didn't have a decent Division 1A offer and have just been completely dominated over the last 2 weeks. This is not a strength today and it won't be 10 years from now until we sign some lineman who have athletic ability-regardless of how tall or fat they may be.
