Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationCould let me fly into DFW and save on car rental.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationBook a room downtown for less than a hundy and everyone is set for Gameday.
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationI can't tell you what a game changer this is for Dallas and all of North Texas. As someone who travels 40 to 50 percent of the time for work and is moving back to downtown Dallas I will be using this frequently. The fact that there wasn't a line running from DFW to downtown Dallas until now is beyond absurd. Kudos to everyone who made this happen. This will have a tremendous impact on the continued growth of Dallas.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationThis could and should have been accomplished 10 - 12 years ago. the "opening" of the DFW DART terminal by coincidence occurs just before the expansion of Love Field flights and the end of the Wright Amendment restrictions. Funny how some public works projects and business interests (namely DFW parking fees) come together...
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationThis is perfect. To bad it didn't happen years ago. a lot cheaper than a cab or the supershuttle.
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationYeah the timing of this two months before the Wright Amendment expires at Love is anything but coincidental. Yes the distance is shorter from downtown to Love Field but the fact is that the vast majority of people who visit Dallas come through DFW. Having this rail link to downtown is a huge step for the continued development of downtown Dallas. I was reading an article about the population explosion going on right now. Currently there are 8,000 residents in downtown Dallas with an additional 5,000 residential units currently under construction. Analysts predict that with the continued emphasis on revitalization and with businesses relocating to downtown that the population of downtown Dallas could exceed 20,000 by 2020.

Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationDowntown is awesome. Where are you looking at?
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationWe've already got a place locked in. We're in Victory Park. My wife's company pays for her DART pass (her company is located at One Energy) and our building is a block away from the Victory Station. Gonna save us some money and really looking forward to getting back to downtown. Dallas has made tremendous strides in the last 5-10 years in becoming a great city.

Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationGreat news for visitors to Dallas.
Also good for locals who can pay a few bucks for a train ticket and not have to pay $$$ to park for long trips at the airport. ![]()
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationBig step for public transit in Dallas. Hopefully, DART to the Rangers and AT&T Stadium is next.

Arlington seems anti public transportation for the most part. They only recently added a bus to allow UTA students to go from the TRE. For a while they were the largest city without public transportation. They had an option of joining the initial TRE project which would have given a stop closer to UTA. They also sold their souls and tax revenue for Jerry World so they probably couldn't build if they wanted to. They seem stuck in the outdated car only city model. http://www.wired.com/2013/08/arlington-texas-bus/ http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/08/17 ... ngton.html

I've always heard that. It's too bad. I would go to many more Rangers games if I had the option to take the train. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane Station
I cannot remember the details, but when I was with FINRA and NASDAQ in NYC employees were afforded some form of $$$ consideration for the purchase of public transportation passes and they were either partially tax deductible to the employee and/or the company as an incentative.
Re: DART light rail now open DFW to Mockingbird Lane StationFt Worth has been the hang up this entire time. This could have been done on the existing ling that is jointly owned by Dallas and Ft Worth, but Ft worth wasn't ready on their end and they didn't want Dallas having an advantage - so the blocked it from happening. Really small thinking has hampered Ft Worth for a long time. Hope they shake it off at some point.
