Yeah, but as much as I love Bee Cave, it seems to me to be more franchise restaurants and such. The "new" Kreutz in Lockhart has the most amazing brisket I've ever eaten.smupony94 wrote:They opened a new restaurant in Bee Cave which is terrible. I thought I had heard the Lockhart BBQ families that own, Smitty's and Kruez, had settled their differences and opened Schmidt in Bee Cave together

Got 1/2 pound of brisket and 2 sides for $29. Place is empty as it is too expensive for the quality and amount if food you receivelwjr wrote:Thanks. I have had a couple of friends say it was ok but nothing special.

Franklin in Austin is my current favorite.
Back in the day there was an amazing place on 281 in Lampassas. Pit was right down below ground. Today I believe it's called Hart's Firehouse BBQ and isn't anywhere near as old school…or good.

Building a new stand alone building on the corner of 71 and Bee Cave in front of the Hill Country Galleria would not have been my first choice for a location. The rent and taxes must be through the roof. Besides most of the really good BBQ joints are not located in fancy buildings.smupony94 wrote:Got 1/2 pound of brisket and 2 sides for $29. Re: Best Texas BBQ Site
3 Stacks in Frisco (Preston Road).
I'm not normally a huge BBQ guy, but this place is like nothing I have ever tasted. Not even close. Unconventional, but outrageously good.
They do "burnt (I hate that non-word) ends" that are sensational, and their brisket pizza and brisket Philly cheesesteak are off the charts.
I had several other BBQ places that I like, but my list of the best BBQ places now has only one entry. Nothing else is even close.

Re: Best Texas BBQ Site
Thank you for the suggestion PP. Next time I am in Dallas I will see if I can get out that way and try 3 Stacks.

City Market in Luling, Texas would be #1 for and Black's in Lockhart, Texas would be #2. The brisket and sausages are really good.
