It all starts with the o-line, but there are other issues...

1) Offensive line. Wow, that was absolutely horrible. Our line is just awful. Very dissappointing and ground the entire offense to a halt.

2) Zach Sledge. The guy gives a lot of effort. Give him that. And he actually catches the ball. But will anyone else argue that he is our slowest, least athletic receiver? So why are 90% of the pass plays going in his directions. This is an illustration of...

3) Get our damn playmakers the ball. We actually have some now, between Warren, Henderson, Massey, Martin, and Givens. Those guys need to each be touching the ball double digit times per game. Get our playmakers the ball. I like the creativity on the one drive, but we need to do that stuff all the time. Get the ball in the hands of players that are actually fast and athletic.

4) I am on the Chris Phillips bandwagon. I have resisted for a long time, but I am now on board. If our O-Line is going to play that badly, the only chance we will ever have to move the ball is to play our most athletic QB.

5) We graduate all our players, but make really, really stupid mistakes. That fumbled KO was one of the worst plays I have ever seen. Ever. How can a team of "smart" players do so many stupid things?

6) Mistakes by the coaches. We continue to suffer from poor playcalling. Third and five. We throw the ball. Hot read on a blitz. But we run a three yard hook. A three yard slant is perfectly fine, because you have a chance for YAC. Run a three yard hook? Just horrible. But that said...

7) This one is on the players. They came out with ZERO energy, and had poor effort the entire game. Very passive. Not going in hard to make a tackle, but instead just standing there, not being aggressive, and then trying to make an arm tackle when the ball carrier gets close by. That is why you see our players dragged for 5 yards all the time. And that touchdown run that the entire team quit on was just ridiculous.

That was disgusting. The most disheartening thing was watching how hard we played at home against Baylor and TCU, and how much energy we had, and then to watch this debackel. Poor execution and no energy or emotion in the game. Just horrible.

Why isn't the second team offensive line given a chance to play?????????? :? The middle of the line was ATROCIOUS and should have been replaced by the backups :!: Yes they would have initially struggled, but it would have been interesting to see what Lobo, Burley, etc. could do :!: Why do they have scholarships if they aren't going to see the field :?: How can they possibly show there stuff standing on the sideline :?: Plus it might motivate the starters to get their ACT together :!:

I'm not here to say I told you so, because I thought Bennett would do better than this for one thing, but I remember concluding we had to have Phillips or an equally athletic QB on the field back in 2003 during the Baylor game in Waco. Bartel could sling it, but we dont create any pocket to pass from whatsoever and havent for years. Our offensive line looked like a high school team out there today. It was that bad. Phillips wouldnt have had any chance out there today either. At some point pretty soon though, it wont make any sense to play seniors at qb.
