I'm pretty sure the 1989 SMU football got was a tad worse than us now. Except I believe they beat UNT back then.

Not the worst team, but the least prepared to play a game.

They blew out UNT, beat Uconn, and scored in every game despite playing something like 4-5 Top 20 teams.

1989 team was far better than this mess.

If you mean worst team in Div 1 since the DP, maybe.

That team has ample talent to have won yesterday. It was prepared poorly, coached poorly and unmotivated and careless.

Knowing what The 1989 team was facing at the beginning of the season, they were one of the toughest and gutsiest teams I have ever watched

If you took the players on this team and replaced the 1989 players with them, the '89 team would be better. The players on this team are not as bad as the scores would indicate. They were not prepared to play. They were not motivated. They appeared to be going through the motions. This team doesn't have the talent to make up for these deficiencies. However, if they play inspired, are properly prepared and execute, the results will be much better. This all falls on the coaching staff. I don't believe UNT's players are any more talented or athletic than ours. Probably less so. The difference was coaching. They were prepared, and played like they wanted to win. As I said, we looked like we were just going through the motions.
