They play Florida State, North Carolina, and NC State coming up. They already lost to Georgia and will probably lose to Florida State, if they lose to UNC he might entertain us.

P5 schools that aren't graveyards aren't hiring coordinators w no HC experience these days (bill o'brien was nfl...that's different). The last good p5 job I can think of being taken by a coach w no hc experience is muschamp to uf and that was 5 years ago.

Just spoke with a friend that knows Chad Morris and he told me that Chad loves Texas and would definitely consider the SMU job.

He needs some HC experience. He can come to SMU and leave after a couple of years.

Bill O'Brien was also understood to be a short term, stop-gap solution just to give the Paterno dust time to settle.

I know we're all excited because of today's fantastic news, but Morris is not happening guys.
Fine, talk to him to at least say we did it, but why would HE chose SMU?
You've clearly been around JJ too long.
What does that even mean? Answer the question. Why would he chose SMU over an assortment of P5 options?

Why hasn't he left for one of the assortment of P5 jobs yet if he has so many offers?

Because his long term goal might be to coach a P5 school in Texas and all those jobs are currently filled. SMU would get him back home and allow an opportunity to prove he can succeed as a HC in college. Then once one of those Big XII jobs comes open...

With the current P5 and Go5, I have no problem with us hiring the hotshot coordinator looking to prove himself. Those coordinators aren't getting hired at a P5 school, but they can get launched there if they do well at a Go5 school. Something to prove = hungry and working hard. I want that.
