I am all for it. The false piety of this university. Yes, we have good academics but come on - WE ARE NOT HARVARD. YALE, BROWN etc....

It would be nice to have the standards or mission explained.

DG I guess we differ a little. I am all for a change in staff. I am monumentally in favor of a change. I would like for it to start with Big Jim Copeland but I don't think it will, at least for awhile.

What I see the psychologist doing is more with the players. They need someone to exorcise their demons, get their heads straight and truly believe in themselves. A tall order. Dr Phil probably doesn't have the time for this kind of intensive treatment. We need someone who can work with these guys on a regular basis.

I'm not opposed to having Dr Phil conduct a session with them but it is going to take a lot of time on the couch for this team to get where it needs to get mentally.

I'm sorry...I really don't think Dr. Phil's show is going to focus on SMU's problems in the wake of the DP. Sounds like a smokescreen to me. But...I could be wrong.

Y'all will be pleased to know I've withdrawn my idea for the Dr. Phil show. I had a dumb blonde moment and took it too far. Believe me, my intentions were only good. I still believe the players, if not everyone associated with the university, should have the DP demons exorcised. I am at a loss as to how to go about doing it. All I know is complaining about certain people day-in-and-day-out isn't going to solve any problems. How about focusing on the good things the players do in each game and glossing over the bad? (This is called negative reinforcement and is rather effective.)

DG: Thanks for withdrawing your idea for Dr. Phil. As you said, your intentions were in the right place.

The DP demons will be exorcised when SMU once again has a winning program...hopefully that will be in our lifetime.
