But there is disappointment that he has largely been shutout of the very rich DFW Metroplex High School recruiting-and that my friends is the only reason he got the job.

And that the DFW-area HS coaches banded together to support Tubbs for the job is even more disappointing.

We can all forget the "endorsement" Tubbs got from the high school coaches. I am not saying it wasn't sincere - I'm sure it was but...........it was a toothless document. Look at Darrel Arthur - who gives the quotes about his recruitment? Jazzy Hartwell, his select team coach. Why is Jerome Tang making inroads for Baylor? He's hooked up with the summer ball coaches - most high school coaches can't stand him. If Tubbs wants local talent, he has got to make inroads with the summer coaches. Unfortunately, High school coaches for the most part are on the outside looking in with the "stud" players when it comes to the recruiting process.

obviously true. Recruiting now focuses on AAU play rather than High School Play. At an AAU Tournament a Coach can see hundreds of select ALL-Star players competing against All-stars. In high school, a coach can see two teams with players many times competing against stiffs. The AAU coaches really have the upperhand as far as recruiting goes because they see the coaches at their tournaments. The recruiting season will largely be over before the high school coaches get the players on the court for the season opener.

What would be wrong with finding a Select Team coach, like Hartwell and making him a paid recruiting consultant? Is that something that is wrong? Texas does it with Rogers the magazine guy, he interviews these recrutis for his recruiting magazine and then is a paid consultant for the 'Horns? Are we saying he doesn't influence them, I wouldn't be shocked. So why dont we try it with an AAU coach to help us "evaluate" players.

the recruiting services are paid consultants of almost every Division 1A program in America-a fact I find very humorous when one of you claims that thy are irrelevant.

I understand that just about every university pays for recruting service, I am just saying that Rogers seems to have more ties with UT than in a normal circumstance, so why not find us a Select team coach and make him our pet recruting service.
