Bennett's problem is that even mid way through their senior year neither one could be described as anything more than a poor Division 1A starting QB. SMU has been poor at QB for 4 years now. Every team on our schedule has higher quality QBs. But he is the one who evaluated and recruited them so its fair judge him 4 years into his regime.

It's better than what he had when he came in, but agreed, neither QB could be considered even a mid-level division 1 starter at this point. Although with our o-line, it is about as easy to judge them as it is to judge the running backs...

Earlier this year Meeks was #2 on the depth charth at NW St. in Natchitoches, LA.

Meeks wouldn't have made it. He just had 3-stars... If you ever saw him throw, he had no strength, and threw very unorthodoxly (side-arms)

I'm not going to bash Bennett on this point. He got dealt an ugly had at QB and has been working to fix that problem...but we aren't going to bring in any 4 star guys so deal with it. Romo got it done against TCU and Bennett stuck with him. If Romo's not effective, he's turned to Eckert. I've got no problem with that. If things keep going like they are, Phillips just might see the field before season's end. If any of these guys step up and play like Romo did against TCU, the job is theirs. The QB situation is what it is this year. The question is whether Willis or Johnson or Rhodes is going to help SMU down the road. We aren't signing top recruits at many positions. What makes anyone think QB would be any easier?
