Given the disappointing loss to Tulane, the controversy in the quarterback position, and level of frustration by the fans as evidenced by Wednesday's editorial in the DMN and the generally sour mood on this board, how will the team respond in a tough but winnable game at Marshall on Saturday?

One of our senior QBs needs to step up and take charge this week before we leave. If that happens, we have a shot. If not, we are in trouble.

If SMU wins another game this year.. they're lucky and the team we're playing either has a ton of injuries or a coach that's on his way out.
Translation.. see ya next year.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I've got enough faith in these guys to believe they will have another day like they had against TCU. Not sure it will be against Marshall or UAB, but we will see that level of performance again this year. This year's team is no different than the teams we've fielded for years. They rarely seem to play to their potential because they are a pretty fragile bunch. When you have that loser mindset (and we've all done our part in reminding them what losers they are), a couple of early breaks go against you and that 100% effort is gone. What impressed me about the TCU game is that we had a chance to fold after the frogs returned that 2nd half KO for a TD...but they just decided that niht it wasn't going to happen. With some early breaks against Marshall...who knows?

Damn right. Not against UAB, but beyond that, who knows.
Hell, I'll call for it this week!
Romo/Eckert combine for 230 passing yards and two touchdowns (to Kennedy and Bobby Chase).
DeMyron Martin goes off, a la the TCU game. He's going to rush for 111 yards and two scores.
Chalk up another two field goals for McMurtray.
No blocked punts or placekicks -- except the one Fitzgerald is going to get to this week.
SMU 34
Marshall 26

I don't know if I'm as optimistic as you are (touchdowns for Chase and Kennedy?), but man, I hope you're right!
I'll be watching.

I share your enthusiasm, but for us to get 34 the "D" must score twice!

How about another punt and/or k.o. return?

That would make it 34-31.

Hey, I'll take 17 safeties if it gets us to 34 points.
If Jessie Henderson runs back five kicks for scores, that's cool.
If Humphrey gets the TD he deserved last week, or Harper or Nnabuife or whoever, that's cool, too. Hell, if Bonds falls on a ball bouncing in the end zone, that works for me.
I like this team when it's in an "us against the world" mentality.

Has SMU won a road game under Bennett? SMU will get beat bad tomorrow. The frustration will mount. SMU will continue to get beat every week. Bennett will be fired and hopefully Copeland too. The truth hurts sometimes, especially when you are an SMU fan.

We've won at Tulsa, and I think UTEP.
