I discontinued my season tickets after the 2012 season. I could no longer watch what was happening to my beloved Mustangs. When the athletic department called me this year to see if they could get me to start purchasing season tickets again, I told them not as long as JJ was the coach.
I guess it worked.
I will now renew my Mustang Club membership and purchase season tickets for the remainder of this year.
Told season ticket office I was out as long as June was in. I'm sure I'll have no problem getting my seats back. Kept the MC donation, but that was for BB tickets.
Still planned on going to all games I could. New job has me on the road A LOT. Just could not justify the 204 Section. Had 8 and couldn't give them away.
I dropped them due to JJ but also because of my son's HS golf schedule and trips to Austin for UT parents weekend and my daughter's sorority initiation and a couple of other events
Got to move down and in for football this year and went from 3 tickets to 4. SERIOUSLY kicking myself for not buying BB tickets last year but managed to sneak in with 2 this year.
I'm happy with my football tickets...now it's time to start the process of improving my BB seats.
Texas bites. Baylor sucks. As it was in the beginning, is now, and evermore shall be. Amen.
Having been a season ticket holder at Baylor since 2004 (and I'd been going for years before that, but you don't buy season tickets for yourself in high school), I can tell you that sticking it out through the down times makes winning all the sweeter.
We have countless "fans" that have appeared from nowhere the last few years, and don't get me wrong I'm glad they have, but they're the ones that leave early during blowout wins and complain about our running game when we're leading the conference in rushing. I'm just sitting in my seats smiling, happy I'm not looking at our schedule trying to find 6 possible wins.
The time will come for y'all, and probably soon. Sticking it out through a few more bad years will make you enjoy the winning all the more. Nobody can understand what that transition from terrible to great is like unless you've been truly terrible. UT will never really know what winning can feel like. You will.
Nice comment Kreig. No doubt the euphoria around basketball is partially due to how bad that was for so long. Hope we can find the secret in football, but i think it is just hard work combined with making sure we are not shooting ourselves in the foot. Probably that simple.
I can honestly say that I did cancel my 4 season tickets this year...only because of June still being here as that was my personal protest. I will attend the home games now that we have somebody with energy and commitment at the helm. Go Mason!
Topper wrote:No, I will keep my seats until I can no longer physically make it to the stadium. I have been through much worse than this. Few of you remember that we were asked to purchase four years of tickets in advance beginning with the first year after the DP. I was one of the ticket purchasers and am proud to have done so.
Wow, four years? What was the reason?
They needed the money. Donations weren't exactly rolling in during the DP years. Something had to be done to keep the program on life support or the administration would have dropped the program in a heartbeat if the supporters of football didn't pony up, so to speak.
