Postby LA_Mustang » Mon Sep 22, 2014 10:13 pm

“@jfo_umm: Great home visit with SMU. Looking forward to seeing campus this weekend.”

Foster is a 2015 SG from Houston.

Hopefully LB can beat out Rice for a recruit...........his magic doesn't seem to be working too good lately.

Better give up your season tickets then. Not worth the price, right.

:P I don't think a Snob has a very good handle on the situation. Foster has to be a backup plan if we don't land one of our other SG targets - Gilder, Mitchell, Milton or Lott.

We haven't been landing too much of anyone lately. Haven't heard anyone referring to this potentially epic class as one in a long time.

Great point! Tell you what though, I'm going to let LB and staff, who have taken SMU from irrelevant to a top 25 program in two years, finish the class before I judge it. For me that's a better idea than taking knee-jerk reactions from people clueless to the situation. BTW, you should pm Snob. You two can intelligently discuss the epic failure we are witnessing.

That may be a little sharp, Hoop. I know you agree it's not unreasonable to be excited, as we all should. IMO, one of the worst hits the fan base took was the Mudiay commit. It gave everyone beer muscles that anything is possible; in actuality it was one of those perfect storm situations. SMU fans just need to better understand the nuances of basketball recruiting (which I continue to have to learn about every day). Understand the nuances of a system, a coach, AAU, handlers, apparel, etc. It's not as simple as spotting a top kid and going after him. Bball recruiting is too twisted to say every kid is in play. Once SMU fans fully learn that important detail, I think you'll see a different tone on the boards. Until then, it will be mass panic from "losing" every kid that lists SMU as one of his 20 "finalists".

actually we want a program so successful we are besieged with johnny come lately's that are in constant panic - because that means we are adding fans and gaining attention. It is easily worth the stupid comments to be relevant. Ever checked out a Kentucky board? Truly insane stuff on there. The more of that we have the better.

I'm slighly familiar. Honestly, I have my bucket of popcorn ready for when the t-shirt fans start piling on as "us". Really curious to see how alumni-fans react.

I hadn't thought of that but you're right. I need it start practicing restraint now. 8)

BTW, that meditation must be working for you, Cox. You're seeing things so clearly now.

Hopefully the alumni fans react better to the t shirt fans than the people who have been following closely for years react to the people paying more attention now. For example, no periodic comments reminding anyone that there are seat backs in all the seats in Moody.

Not sure if that was meant for me, but I generally keep quiet on this subject.

Did not mean you. I was editing to make it self deprecating with a comment you might find familiar while you quoted it.
