People think we should drop the program because we have a couple okay years and then we end up back at 0-12. It's like the stock market. Cavan has one or two okay years. Then it drops back to bad. Bennett gets it up to an "okay" year, then it drops to dreadful. Same with J. Jones.

Football is going nowhere and Turner and Hart have said as much. Common thread above, sh*t coaches. Get the right guy in here and things change quickly for the better.

It is possible to make an LB type hire? Yes. Football takes longer to turn around than basketball because of the number of players, but the LB hire shows what is possible.

That isn't a good reason to drop the program. Does everyone realize the negative effect it would have on our university. In Texas, you can't just say to hell with football, we are a basketball school now. We are not on the east coast. We are not Georgetown or Villanova. Football is king and we keep trying till we get it right.

and GU and Vilanova resurrected their football programs. There is a link to the university that is beneficial and undeniable

Goose tooting the "Academics" issues with recruiting. Idiot.

At least he says SMU can still win big.

Goose is right, lack of majors specific to athletes is a huge issue, getting a park and rec, sports mgmt degree program would be a game changer.

Norm pushed the issue. He asked Goose good questions.

They should have paid out June back after the ASU debacle and then go one a very long search for coach. Heck has Mason as "interim" for two seasons till the funding comes back, at least he would have a chacne to keep the team in neutral rather than flooring it in reverse. I would say thats 20/20 hindsight, but i suggested it back then but it was deemed crazy.
