There are exceptions, though. I wanted to say something (a lot) to the moron in front of me who watched that corps dork hit Thompson and said "he should have laid his a-- out!"
So he was glad that the dog didn't get hurt, but wanted to see a player get laid out? Nice.
That dog is a 5 star general
That figures.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
i will now go back to pulling for tamu the rest of the way. i know how it just kills ut fans that tamu is doing so well. espn also hates it so that gives me added pleasure.
I'll probably get roasted, but I'm going to stick up for the Tech fans.
They're getting better. Fans are, very often, a reflection of the coach. They were a reflection of Leach when he was there, and that began to tone down a bit with Tuberville (did he actually have a personality?). Now, in only two years, I think that Kingsbury has had a positive effect.
I've seen them twice in the past year, and they are nowhere near the level of trouble that Texas, TCU and Houston are. (To be fair I have not been to a Texas game in a decade, and by my logic, they should get better with Strong at the helm)
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
I am pastor to a church full of Aggies. This past Sunday, they were generous, and almost to a person didn't tease too hard. They are a peculiar bunch, but I can always remind them of the felony sword assault on a cheerleader in front of 60,000 witnesses, or the paneling of the windows at the A&M bookstore during Hurricane Ike on the INSIDE, if they get too snarky. They don't get snarky. One even observed that June Jones was our Dennis Franchione. Apt comparison, I thought.
Arkansas fans threw oranges one year, refused to sell gas to SMU folks in Fayetteville following a Pony victory, and still loudly complain that there was no pass interference on a game played in 1982 against SMU.
During my time at SMU (1977-81) Baylor fans were the most obnoxious by far. Rude, newly entitled (winning the SWC in 1974 and 1980), and perceiving all in Waco as "Jerusalem on the Brazos"...the stories I could tell.
stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Aggie fans are superb sportsmen when they are 50 point favorites. Generous, affirming, complimentary. But it's quite another matter when the outcome is in the balance, or when they narrowly lose. Then guard your loved ones and put ear plugs in your children's ears. It'll be a different matter entirely.
