Although just an impression from afar, doesn't really seem like the dynamic leader we could use. Also way too early in the process to anoint any leaders, pure speculation at this point by the media I would think.

If Heupel is leading then this could set record for longest search ever because they have a great shot at the Playoff if they get past Baylor. Speaking of Baylor, nothing has really linked with regard to Philip Montgomery who I think should at least be interviewed.

It's not like they'd have to wait until Heupel was done coaching in the playoff with Oklahoma to hire him. Other coordinators of title contenders accepted HC positions and worked both jobs until the conclusion of the title game.

I don't think that's gonna happen with a team going for a National Championship-they will insist he work full-time I would think. I know I would. Publicity could be favorable though. It might be allowed for just a Bowl team-but in those cases they often are just released anyway

If he is OU's next head coach, then he will have done a hell of a job at SMU

I want Montgomery, although I'm sure Bennett would tell him not to do it.

i think being under stoops at least he will work. That is all this job really needs now that the school is committed to accepting actual athletes.

Heupel comes from a culture of winning. It's big time college football in Norman. The fans are very critical of Heupel. Fans expect to score TD's every possession. The fan base was also critical of Landry Jones. They either lived him or hated him. All Landry did was win games. The OU fan base has very high expectations. Playing for national championship is the goal, at a minimum to win the Big 12. I don't need someone who jumps around and screams, but I need someone who wants to be here, embraces tradition, recruits and builds the fan base. He is more than capable of doing the job. Not saying he is the guy but should be on the list. We did a lot worse for the past 7 years.

If we find a coach that can win that happens to jump around and scream then we do need him.
