Rules say yes, like it or not.
I still call B.S. I challenge the NCAA to show one example of where when after a player lost his helmet, he stood by twiddling his thumbs while the other 21 players finished the play. That rule's an absolute joke. I don't have a problem with blowing the play dead, but calling a penalty is ridiculous.
As I understand it, the rule is supposed to be for the protection of the player who lost his helmet. If he is prohibited from continuing his effort, without a helmet on he is much more likely to get hurt. So like it or not, that's the point of it.

If you have watched this team you realize there's not a chance we are competitive with anybody

Ha ha. If they blow the play dead you would see players throwing off their helmets on any big play. You are not required to like the rule but it is a rule and the calls was correct.

How many times have you seen players stop? mrydel wrote:Ha ha. If they blow the play dead you would see players throwing off their helmets on any big play. You are not required to like the rule but it is a rule and the calls was correct.
No, there already is a rule on the books against taking off your helmet voluntarily. I'm referring to a helmet being knocked off by the opposition (which should be a penalty - either hands to the face or face mask violation). Otherwise if you follow the logic of the rule, OL should be instructed to dislodge helmets as DL would either have to freeze (and not participate in the play) or earn a 15 yard penalty if they continued. A no lose proposition for the offense! They sure weren't thinking the day they implemented that stupid rule.

I do not agree with the rule either, but it is a rule. Either the player violated a rule knowingly (although I am sure it was instinctive) or the staff did a poor job of teaching the rules. There is no justifiable argument.

Absolutely. The offensive lineman on that play pushed the helmet off by the facemask but there was no call.

I never saw what happened. If that was the case then the call at the very worst would have been offsetting, but most likely just against TCU. Do not think it would have mattered though.

Proud of you. We need to continue to support the team. I just had too much going on to justify a 10 hours round trip leaving at 4:00am. I feel guilty for not being there.

just as I will feel a little guilty for not supporting the team in Greenville next week. I give you a lot of credit for making that trip to Big D as often as you do
