Here's an interesting comment from someone in the admin: neither Morrison nor Phillips wanted to take the OC job when June left. Why, you ask? Because both said that JJ kept the offense to himself and neither felt they knew it well enough to take it over & call plays. THAT is how screwed we are right now. Whole damned group needs to leave. End of discussion.

well I'd expect a QB Coach who spent 15 years around the offense should have learned a little bit-doncha think. I'd fire him for being a [deleted] if he said that. Job Security indeed-"Its not my problem man"

Rebel, I disagree with you.

Most of this is on Turner / AD / CoC, in other words, whomever JJ reported to.

Seriously, you had to be kinda an idiot to not see this season coming like a freight train.

I personally completely wrote off SMU fb once JJ was extended last winter. Not because I despised JJ, which i do, but because the higher-ups didn't make the most obvious decision necessary. This coming from a 45-year+ SMU fan who has followed the Ponys regardless of the product on the field.

People will say SMU couldn't afford the $5M buy-out. Fair enough, but that speaks volumes about SMU's true commitment to fb.

Well that decision should have been made after the ASU fiasco not last year.

Does Turner even care that the fan base was completely screwed this year? The season was over in Mid-September.

WTF! How could you be a co-offensive coordinator and not know the offense? What the hell have you been doing while at SMU? How can you walk into a game planning meeting ever week for 7 years and not understand what is going on. How can you listen to the headset while in the press box for seven years and not learn what is going on. Phillips played in this offense in college and he still doesn't know it? I know these guys weren't recruiting so what have they been doing?

Morrison coached with June at Hawaii for 9 years too. He has 16 years of Run n Shoot experience

There is a possibility that the admin guy could be wrong.

Agree 100% and am on record as saying so at the time. But last year was the straw that broke my back. It was so painfully obvious he needed to go.

Yet we kept him.

All of this just reinforces the fact that RGT cares less about fball.

He had to factor that in when keeping JJ this year.

Oh, and the season was over the day we kept him. How did the cluster f play out again? JJ told the world he had us by the short hairs, we were going to extend him any day, then about a month later we quietly kept him?

Maddening.
