I would hope so. I can't imagine anyone being so mentally deficient that they couldn't learn their job in 15 years. Then again this could have been the excuse they used because they didn't want their name attached to any of this.

Can't fault the man for being honest. We recruited at a lower southland level for three years. Hell the D2 RMAC champ would roll us

There certainly is that possibility; rumors are always just that until proven. But from what we've seen through two games now since JJ left, the alternative is that these guys are so hopelessly inept at their jobs that they have no business coaching really at any level. I get that ATM and TCU are superior in terms of talent, but the offense has been beyond horrid, far beyond the talent deficiency IMO. How much of that falls to the way they are coached (or not coached as the case may be)?

100% of this is on June. He was the head coach and the leader, with all the resources he needed to succeed if he simply made the effort.
END OF STORY
As is also becoming very apparent, a good portion of his staff has no business coaching D1 football. Whether it be there competence, work ethic, or personalities, it's unfortunate Mason can't just fire 80% of them right now.

That's been apparent for a few years now, we've often questioned what exactly it is many of these guys do.

The staff is a joke, the recruiting has been a joke, and this season is a joke.

How can this be happening? North Texas? How the hell does North Texas even compete with us? How can North Texas attract better athletes than SMU? Their coach makes tons less money. SMU is in a better conference. The North Texas degree does not come close to an SMU degree. Denton vs Dallas? Come on.... The SMU Campus w/Presidential Library vs North Texas campus? R. Gerald Turner should be ashamed of himself allowing this disaster to happen. We may be the worst team SMU has ever fielded.

Typical blindly optimistic ponyfan. The season is over pal. There's not going to be a silver lining from this one. Just count down the time until next season with a new personnel from the top down.

JasonB or someone else may come on explaining how the rest of the season will be better because we will be playing lesser talented teams. But they seem to forget what happened at UNT.

The next coach has it easy. His entire recruiting pitch: "You are a key prospect. We are an outstanding academic institution that values your academic and personal growth. We will do everything to make you a better man and a better player. Oh, and did I mention, you are pretty much guaranteed to start if you still have a pulse next year come September."
