Re: Another Dickerson Tweet@EricDickerson: Can expect @SMU_Football to compete with other schools when @SMU has higher standards for recruiting then the NCAA requires.

Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
June was really feeding him the same stuff the coaches were feeding Mexmustang. Last edited by Rebel10 on Sat Sep 27, 2014 7:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
I agree, we don't know how he would act if his best friend quit coaching two games into a season. Knowing what we know about Doak Walker, I'm going to guess he would not be ranting against his school on the Internet. He would take the high road. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
Yeah - well I know he wouldn't react like that. If you have ever read anything or talked to anyone who knew Doak you know that he would react with class. ED not so much. ED wants us to do well. That is fine but he needs to be constructive not destructive. Hopefully he does put PR pressure on the decision makers to pick the right guy. Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
All speculation. There have been several SMU coaching searches that Dickerson has never done anything like this. June has brainwashed him. Against his rants sound very similar to Mexmustangs rants. And Mex seemed like a reasonable person before they braineashed him. Last edited by Rebel10 on Sat Sep 27, 2014 7:10 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Another Dickerson TweetMaybe he's just frustrated that his nickname is ED....
Re: Another Dickerson TweetYes, we have a lot of things to fix, obviously, but Dickerson is way out of line to blast the school like this. Considering everything the school did to get him and keep him at SMU, he owes the university eternal praise, or at the very least, silence. Disgraceful.

Re: Another Dickerson TweetEveryone is frustrated. It just sucks ED's frustrations get a megaphone w/the media.

Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
You mean what Dickerson did for SMU. He had other options (best selected SMU) and he helped SMU become one of the great teams in SMU history. #HammerDown
Re: Another Dickerson TweetI don't know how ED can be so frustrated. We were good at one point recently and admissions got easier not harder so....
Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
How would he know that when he gets his talking points from June? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Another Dickerson TweetYou realized that ED is an athlete, right? He was raised in sport to attack weakness and hold himself and his teammates to an extremely high standard. So he chooses SMU over A&M and their car dealership, and UT and all they threw at him, and then went to the NFL and toiled for mediocre teams while running up amazing rushing numbers. So, once again, he is a hardwired athlete. So after being banished to the figurative desert at SMU post death penalty (if you want an example of brain washing, see any post where someone has anything positive to say about Turner and sports at SMU pre 2006) with the rest of all successful Mustangs from the 70's and 80's, he found a coach at his school who offered the promise of bring offense back to the school. And after a bad first season, that coach began to do what was advertised...he brought a change in the results. SMU began to win...to embody that success that Dickerson and his cohorts remembered as the benchmark of the program. Then the coach was left out in the aloha sun too long, and he spoiled. Well, ED was close to this spoilt milk and (shockingly, you know, since the rest of the school admin. and athletic department had been honest and open with the former Mustangs before June came here) believed him over the school. Fast forward to now, after a horrible season that was followed up by this pile of stinking horse crap, and ED is pissed. He is forced to either accept that the guy who finally was able to get him back to a position somewhat close to what he deserved for his play at the school was lying to him and was using the program as a free bank account, or believe the administration that had crapped on him and his fellow Mustangs from the great 70-80's generation. So he verbalizes his animosity. He tweets it. Any time in the past, this would have gone unnoticed. Why? Because until 2009....since 1985...we absolutely sucked. But now, even though we stink to a level that exceeds anything outside of the results from that bad ad where the 1920's team plays a modern football team, there is an expectation for SMU to be good. So his tweets are noticed. Basically, it would be nice for ED to put down the twitter...but that isn't the real problem. The problem is...who do you trust to bring this school back out of the wilderness? When it comes to academia...I would trust Turner, but unless someone can convince him that a top team would bring him more accolades (do that, and watch how much more support comes), I don't rely on him for this. The rest of the Admin? Well, previously, they chose June. There were many reasons, to be sure, but I believe the largest reason was his belief that his system was so good that they could take bad players and get a high return on their effort...letting the school invest less than others and get similar results. June's hire was the statement that SMU will not be making an attempt to compete at the top level...so we will get someone who can make mediocre and average a little better. So who do I trust? I trust Rick Hart. I trust that Hart will make the right decision for the right reasons. I trust he possesses the acumen and leadership to weigh the long term implications and requirements when making this big decision. I think that Rick Hart is the man SMU needs, at the time SMU needs him. And I trust that Hart will not repeat the sins of the past and will reach out to our distinguished Mustangs from times of yore (you know, those times when we weren't beating minnows, but feared by the best, the real test of a program) and make them enough of a part of this program that they become a key mouthpiece and recruiting tool. Remember, ED is an athlete and an exceptional one at that. Rant donw...carry on smartly.
Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
You're an idiot
Re: Another Dickerson Tweet
Absolutely not true. I talked with Doak at both Ohio State games in 1950/51. He came down from Detroit to see SMU play in Columbus.
