Yeah. He did not even get an offer from The University of Phoenix.

Re: Tank Reed + Cole Beasley tweets
Anyone taken a moment to think the problem could have been bigger than June? Just because we had a few more victories on the field, doesn't mean the program was essentially improving. Jones had to go...he was part of the problem...but Turner has been there since 1995. Just because the school opened up the check-book (they really didn't, did they, when they had boosters pay coaches?) and expanded admissions and a few programs, did they make the atmosphere any better?
On the flip side...how do you improve the atmosphere of a program that doesn't recruit and doesn't really offer an exciting product?
It is a chicken and egg question, and with Turner and Orsani the answer was easy; no one cared. Now we have Hart, and his easiest decision will probably be who the next coach is. Getting that coach to buy into a broken system, and getting the students to attend games, and getting the atmosphere right...that is the hard part. Sell the program. Heck, they couldn't even get to rotunda lights to illuminate on time for the countdown they posted videos of online last friday night. If we can't flip a switch with a 5 second count-down....what the heck can we do?

In distinct contrast to that the basketball team is currently being treated like gods by the student body, and I would bet that as a consequence they have a very different opinion of SMU as a whole, and their experience here.
Probably the difference between a JJ run program and an LB run program. Polar opposites.

True! LB stresses details...JJ didn't. Then again, the administration and athletic department don't seem to stress details either.

I never heard of JJ getting out and talking to the students like LB does. I am guessing the students see LB cares about the students and wants them at the games. Of course winning doesn't hurt but still. JJ wants nothing to do with anyone. He did not like mingling with students, fans or alumni.
When he was hired Orsini and JJ came out to Midland, I still can't believe they came out here. JJ was nice but you could tell he did not want to be there. After saying hello to all 20 of us, he gave a short speech then sat down and was not real engaging.
JJ is/was his own worst enemy.

Also agree. When LB first got here he reached out specifically to the IFC houses INDIVIDUALLY and asked them to please help make his players feel welcome on this campus because he had heard that they did not feel welcome in the past. He then explained the importance of them feeling welcome on campus. The greeks responded to this in a big way, and the girls have even responded which can only help as well. Of course the winning has helped this as well, but I think the point is still valid.
Two years ago if a basketball player would never be seen at a party, much less anyone talking to them on campus. They can't even walk to class without kids taking pictures with them now.

Neither of them could pass their English classes? I can't believe that. Can't imagine why former athletes with such proper vernacular don't want to come back and finish. Well I guess they never started... hmm.
Cole would be nothing without SMU.

Friends like these, huh dude...they can't have it both ways: their own dorms, own courses, their own academic standards, their own cultish and exclusionary culture and turn around expect everyone to treat them like their the same. I always say "hi" and "thanks" to football players when I see them on campus; several times to Tank specifically. I seldom get a warm response and often am made to feel what I said was a bother.

See the blue checkmark by his name? That is because Twitter has verified that this is the account of the Cole Beasley of the Cowboys
Reed's account isn't verified but we can make the assumption that Beasley would know if it was his former teammate or not
