All Weis did was recruit Juco's. Not sure that's fixing many of the grade or discipline issues that usually follow that specific type of player? Not really building a solid base for the future with those guys either.

June and Weis very similar. Both arrogant guys who milked a ton of cash from a faux public image as gurus.

That was fast, still not sure why Kansas even hired him.

He had to cut out a lot of cancer and that 2013 class just didn't bounce his way. He was starting to get off the Juco-crack. Too little too late.

I'm told several of the "rising star" coordinator types who often are on the radar for head coaching vacancies will steer clear of KU because they don't want to risk their big shot at a job as tough as this one.

Bruce Feldman doesn't think there's gonna be too much overlap when it comes to Kansas and us, it sounds like.

Not really. He did address the unsexy institutional issues: discipline, grades, mutual support between the sports, etc. Let's be honest, any coach that could fix all that, coach, AND recruit was not picking KU after Gill. So Zeng decided to break "the project" into chunks. Shrug.

Not sure how this justifies firing the guy mid season. Not doubting your assessment. Do they just want to have time to examine a hire? Seems t me that everything you say could be true but they could still wait until the seasons end to fire him.

Not that I like Charlie Weiss.

As someone who follows both programs, I agree. I think you'll see some fans and media include some of the same guys, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the top 4 for each doesn't have one name in common.

Very fair question Tread, and I'm not sure my guess is any more credible than any other fan's guess who has spent some time following the situation. I was surprised to hear it, only because I thought it would come closer to the end of the season. The timing would leave me to believe Zeng wants to kick the tires on two options: (1) evaluating guys currently on staff, and (2) they have a currently unemployed (or attainable) coach in mind (or I suppose it could be both). Unlike June, Weis wasn't toxic to the program so unless it's one of the two items above, an early season change doesn't make sense to me.

Huh? Not sure about this - I don't remember KU ever being ranked in the top 10 during the 90s. I know we (TCU) played them twice in the mid 90s and they were competitive games...KU was nowhere near top 10.

They ought to first fire the guy who made this horrible hire
