Reb- we have those majors and have had them for four years now. This, plus the omnipresent "SMU has harder admissions criteria than other schools" seem to be very stubborn urban myths left over from the June jones era. I guess that excuse sounds better than " I'm too lazy to recruit".

Everybody on here has been extremely pissed off with the football team for the past month, and as a result we've been pointing out all the problems there are currently. There's no reason to direct our anger at "June supporters" as if they are responsible for us being here. Sure, June's dwindling effort may be responsible for the struggles, but I place blame as well on people who stopped coming to games because of it and sold their tickets to visiting fans for money. It creates a negative atmosphere.

If alumni like Beasley, reed, Crawford, etc. WEREN'T tweeting about smu and the team, it would mean that they have stopped caring about it. They have the same emotions as the fans, except that because they were players they have a different viewpoint of the situation, so stop criticizing them for trying to share solutions to the problem

But they aren't really suggesting solutions, they are piling on, which is not appreciated Also, anyone with half a brain can tell June left is in the lurch, so defending him when is is so obvious is just not smart. So if that is the angle then it deserves some criticism, they aren't above that at all.

Here is what could be said without a lot of media coaching - " I loved my time with coach jones and SMU, and hope our AD and administration can get things turned around. If that requires any changes I hope they make them, and will support whatever it takes to get it done. I owe SMU a lot and appreciate our loyal fans and community".

Have people on here been saying "I am thankful for June bringing us to 4 bowl games, and while I think he has led us downhill the past few years, I will always support the smu football team no matter what, and hope the AD will make a great hire?" No, they have said that june is the devil, have boycotted football games, some have called for Hart to be fired for being a "yes-man", and are now criticising some of our more successful players for suggesting that we should add more majors, online courses, and calling for fans to support the team no matter what.

We have countless threads on the board saying "this team sucks", "worst team in college football", "Allen HS could beat us". You're telling me that those are not piling on to the situation, and are offering solutions to the problem?

The problem is their viewpoint is June's viewpoint, everyone is to blame but June and that's why they're being criticized. As for solutions, I only saw one and it was to a problem that has already been solved. So they're basically just spreading more of June's disinformation.

June is hard to like for an SMU fan based on his lack of effort. No real fan will ever boycott SMU games, and I personally will support our team - win or lose. I do think that the former players are letting their loyalty to June cloud their vision and effect their judgement, and they certainly deserve criticism for their uninformed opinions. We already have what they are asking for. The reason for our situation is not anything but June and his staff.

Us venting on PF is one thing, ex players piling on Twitter is quite another. If you cannot see the difference then we can't help you.

I have not seen anything that seemed like slander, but surely you realize there has been plenty said about Beasley that was not just quoting him right? What do you mean all of the words were his?

You know the common statement we hear "SMU went to 4 straight bowls winning 3?" Well it would be "SMU won 4 straight bowl games" except for a Cole Beasley drop. Maybe we can start remembering the negatives also instead of the positives.

Actually I believe rather than having a 1st down well inside the red zone we were forced to attempt a long field goal which was missed.
