Garrett Krstich

Postby stc9 » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:48 pm

I know we are all very, very angry. Look at the tweets from ED and CB and PFs responses. It has been open season and we are looking to eat our own. I can only hope that the environment is better inside the locker room.

I want to say I have been impressed by Krstich as a young man. In the two games he has played, he went out and answered the media questions in the post game. In both games he placed a lot of the blame upon himself, trying to shelter his teammates as best he could. He has been buried on the depth chart since his arrival and this is a new position for him to find himself in. You can see he is visibly upset and still does his best to maintain his composure and present a positive message. It would be easy for him to throw teammates under the bus to make himself look better, yet each time he has stepped forward and shouldered the load.

With all of that has gone wrong this season, we should acknowledge a positive. How he has handled becoming the post game face of the team has been admirable. He has shown leadership and class.

Kid has heart. He was one of the ones that was leaving it all out there until the bitter end. Props to him for representing himself and the university admirably.

He's really stepped up. Handled the role very well for a guy that was fourth on the depth chart and probably not expecting to be where we are today.

I have a lot of respect for him and the players that are giving full effort and playing their hearts out. They give me a reason to come back to every game regardless the outcome. Even if I don't stay the entire game (it's honestly painful to watch this team play four quarters), I always go to at least give them my thanks for their effort.

Unfortunately half of the board and probably a greater % of supposed SMU fans would rather criticize the kid for being a horrible player with zero talent who should just stay hidden in the locker room after the game and bury his face in disgust.

I give every player who wakes up each morning and straps on an SMU helmet in the middle of this sh*t show the utmost respect.

Good grief. I didn't say every kid was out there going through the motions. I certainly didn't single out GK. He fought hard. If you really want to talk about it though I'm in Section 105. First beer is on me. I'm the only one in my row by the second half anyway.

There's no doubt the kid is a football player. Only question is the kid an FBS QB.

All I'm saying is 99.9% of the blame and criticism here should be leveled at June and the supposed adults who should be leading and inspiring these kids.

The new staff will figure out very quickly which kids want to be here and should be here. The rest will find themselves elsewhere. These things have a way of working themselves out.

I will be in Section 102 with the parents until the bitter end as well. Usually exiting the stadium only at the behest of the ushers after nearly everyone else is gone.

I agree that the overwhelming majority of the blame lies with June. Kids will follow the actions of their leaders and when the coach quits its a natural reaction for the team to quit. Either way, we've got some house cleaning to do and it ain't just with the guys wearing polos on the sidelines.

GK seems to be class act, I would like to see him continue to improve through the season. Desperately needs some help from the OLine and Receivers to give him time and get separation. I just want us to improve each week and the kids to play hard as we get ready to move the program forward again.

I love this kid!!! No, he's not the most talented QB in the world, but he's been the best we've got this season, and he goes out and gives everything he has. If the whole team did this week in and week out, I'd be thrilled even if we don't win any, at least we're fighting our hearts out and that's what it's all about. It doesn't matter if he's outgunned, the kid shows no fear and has accepted the mantle of leadership in what is a terrible situation. I wish I had a job to offer the kid!

Congratulations to Garrett, For him to be a walk-on and move from 4th team to a starter against this schedule is remarkable. And I can only imagine how many reps he was getting in spring or fall camp...probably none except for the scout team. An amazing accomplishment. Maybe whoever is coaching the scout team should be the qb coach.

He's an FBS QB now. Hope he's on a scholarship because he's definitely taking one for the team on and off the field.

Here's my question. If ED loves JJ so much and SMU's recruiting is on a level playing field, why did ED steer his cousin (Ricky Seals Jones) away from SMU and JJ?

At first I thought he may be a second coming of Tate Wallis, but this kid has some talent and could be decent with better players surrounding him. I would love for us to recruit receivers taller than 5'9".

Keep your head up, GK.
