Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownWhat makes SMU a unique situation for Mack Brown is that I don't think he's going to be a real contender for a P5 job. We're in a location he is intimately familiar with and would offer him the chance to redeem himself in the shadow of Austin. Who knows maybe we can get the 'Horns on the schedule in the near future.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownMack Brown has won at every level at all types of schools. He is a great recruiter, and knows everyone in football to hire assistants. Why would we not want him?

I was responding to the post where you said this: "I know you went to UT and are a Mack lover but the truth is the truth." You were not talking about Strong in that sentence, you were dismissing his post based on what you think you know about the poster and his motivations.
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownDo we get the Big Alum character from the Ticket if Brown goes to SMU. That character cracks me up especially with the parody during the Charlie Strong hiring controversy
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownDoes anybody know the NCAA rules about football program structure? My thinking is Mack would be an awesome NFL type GM. Making him the "Head of Football Operations" the HC reports to him, but is in charge of the team. All other staffers (HS relations...etc) report to Mack. Mack's main responsibilities would be to rebuild relationships with Texas High Schools, sell the school/program to the media, recruit players along with the football coaches and recruit new boosters. I think Mack's best days are behind him as a HC, but these are the things he really excells at.

He has admitted to being a Mack fan in other forums. #HammerDown
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown
He didn't have so much when he took Tulane to a bowl and brought North Carolina to national relevance. Neither of those schools had the resources to go where he took them. Only question with Mack is HOW MUCH DOES HE HAVE LEFT IN THE TANK?
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown
And I thank you for keeping track of these things for us.
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownI don't think Mack is going to be coaching anywhere next year imo.

Probably KU ![]()
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownThe sooner we get a coach the better so if Mack is our guy then try and get it done for the betterment of our program.
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownI don't see how Mack Brown could come to SMU.
In the time he was at UT, he helped them rake in almost 1 BILLION dollars in revenue, and that was just from football. Taking a job at SMU would be kin to a CEO of a large corporation accepting a job as manager of a local Kwik-E-Mart.
Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown
Spot on. When Mack came to UNC his first two years they went 1-10 and 1-10. The middle 6 years he had a winning record every year, finishing in the top 25 3 of those years. His last two years they went 10-2 and 10-1, finishing in the top 10 both times. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack BrownI think Turner and Brown would clash behind closed doors too much as well. Especially if Turner promised something and did not deliver.
