Breakout Player of the 2014-15 season?

Postby sadderbudweiser » Tue Sep 30, 2014 5:39 am

Who is the guy who will really take it up a level this year? There are so many who could explode.
Who do you all predict far exceeds expectations? I'm agreeing with LA_Mustang from another thread and picking Ben Moore. But there are a half dozen who have the opportunity: Ben, Yanick, Cannen, Ryan, Sterling and Keith. Who do you all think we'll be talking about the most in March?

We'll be talking about Nic and Markus, just like we are now. But I really think we'll see another level from Sterling Brown. He's very, very good now. But seems to me he's got more.

This is why i think we will be much better this year, even with only 1 ballhandler. I'd be really surprised/disappointed if at least 2 of the players you mentioned aren't materially improved over last year.

I hope by mid year there is a great argument for 4-5 of them. Including Nic and Markus getting to another level.
Mostly likely Yanick, Sterling or Ben I think, but hopefully Keith is in the mix as well. If I had to guess now it would be Sterling.

Good thread. I believe Yanick or any of the three sophomores could have breakout years. I'll stick to my guess of Ben as the guy having the biggest impact. He is smart, coachable and very talented. The staff was very high on him last year.

If I were a betting man, my money would be on Keith Frazier.

Ben Moore's a great choice.

I'm really hoping that Justin Martin has a breakout year for us and shows us great leadership.

True on Ben Moore. I think Sterling will have a great year, but since he does so many thing well may go under the radar.

Yanick had a tough year with injuries etc. he was a monster as a JC and with his performance at the World's I think he returns to form.

KF just needs to keep improving on D and handling.

With all the recruiting moaning, I forgot about how good the players we got are. Lots of potential.

It's gonna be fun to watch.

I love that there are so many candidates.

Seems like Ben & Sterling are most likely, but they were so surprisingly polished last year that even if they just improve a particular aspect (perhaps Ben with more consistent offense; Sterling with ball handling) then they could make a big impact without necessarily having "break out" seasons.

I say KF and Yanick are the two we would most benefit from seeing big improvements out of. KF certainly showed it late in the season and Yanick this summer. So if they both become bonafide offensive threats then this team is scarier than already anticipated.
