It was empty before we put a decent team out. If the football program put out a good team and not get shut out by former SWC opponent - more people might show up. I seem to remember Beasleys team getting blown out by SWC teams.

Cole is right. When SMU beat TCU in Fort Worth, the next week we should have had at least an attendance of 27,000. The boulevard was always packed and the stadium was rarely during his time at SMU. I forgive the lack of attendance this season after [deleted] hit the fan, but when we were going to bowls SMU fans should've had their asses in seats.

The games themselves don't mean anything, but it's a sign that your program is winning a decent amount of games

It is called fan support. [deleted] bowl games are better than 0-4 and those seasons were the most success SMU has had since I was born. I was a student and I attended most games while my best friends were at Barley. At the end of the day we were all drunk, I just took the time to support my team.

We have 8,000 undergrads Cole, get real. What a [deleted].
I agree. Beasley is talking trash straight from JJ's mouth. And it's pretty clear JJ was behind that redshirt kid writing a letter to the Daily Campus in '11, griping about SMU fans. EDIT: OK - I don't agree with ALL he said.

I think the problem is that people on here think that June was the ONLY problem our football program had, and that getting rid of him would solve everything. It definitely helps, but there are other things that need improvement

Same here. I came in 08 and went to all the home games during the 1-11 season. The only home game I never made it to during my tenure as a student was Houston senior year because I couldn't stand. Point is when you go 6-34 against FBS teams with winning records, the average fan doesn't care. We won 3 games that mattered (TCU, UCF and ECU) ever in the regular season. That's not how you build a program and fan base. Especially when you get destroyed by every BCS team you play (TCU was in mountain west when we won).

When you get lucky and knock of a TCU or make it to a 6th rate bowl, don't expect the crowd. The crowd comes when you F up/destroy a big power like it's no big deal and the fans can expect that when next Saturday comes the same thing will happen..... Hire Bill Polian and let him/his staff recruit the diamonds in the rough without the P-5 offers....

I don't think the average Dallas fan even knew who UCF was. Also you can't just have one win over a non ranked TCU team that had already lost 1 game before they had played SMU and expect overnight.

Again - agree. JJ literally didn't think we deserved any better - thought we should be infinitely satisfied with his win-6 mentality.

After the UCF game we were one win away at Southern Miss to being Top 25. Sure we didn't get the win. JJ's fault for not getting it done but we were very close to being a respectable team.
