Re: Qualifier Questionthat's why I said Turner was the final appellate decision-and it also shows Turner is not so anti-athletic department as represented. Quite frankly, from all that I've read Turner REALLY stuck his neck out on Frazier and SMU REALLY overlooked a lot of things on Mudiay. So we got a system of checks and balances/due process but based on all the evidence that I'm aware of GRT is leaning over backwards to support athletics

Re: Qualifier Question
Unless you were there when what you are claiming happened then it is more propaganda that the football coaches are trying to get you and Mexmustang to spread. So stop with the drama. #HammerDown
Re: Qualifier Question
So if he was not in the room then he could not possibly know? What if someone who was in the room told him exactly what happened?
Re: Qualifier QuestionI think the he is right schematically on the administrative due process:
Committee Provost Turner but that would put Mexmustang in the position of bitchin' about Turner when Turner was the one who overruled the Committee and Provost. Doesn't that make Turner the hero? Re: Qualifier Question
Whether he has the schematics right or not he just started saying this stuff. He did not say anything about a Provost on KF before basketball season started or during basketball season. But yes, you are correct in that it still makes Turner look like he is not against athletics. #HammerDown
Re: Qualifier Question
What does a story I was sharing about the basketball program have anything to do with football coaches, propaganda, or Mexmustang? Take your meds. LB was telling the committee that he would be back, and he actually has been back twice that I know of. That tells me the situation isn't perfect (the Provost was actually denying Frazier admission to the school after he qualified, from what I understand), but they have ways to stick their neck out for certain players, which makes it a hell of a lot better than any other situation we have had here in the past. I don't have any knowledge about who June took in front of committee or why. I also don't have any insight into why it was turned down. However, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Turner stuck his neck out for Brown but wouldn't stick his neck out for June.
Re: Qualifier QuestionOh Jeez. You are hopeless
All I know is some one got in who scored more than 660 points below the AVERAGE SMU student's SAT. Jason you have never articulated any understanding of NCAA sliding scale or admission requirements. What makes you think you have the slightest basis for your opinion. There is overwhelming evidence that SMU admits unprecedented minimum qualifiers under June Jones and likely Larry Brown. We actually have more credible evidence about the 23 of 25 minimum qualifiers June Jones got in his first 2 years. The fact is June Jones got in just about every commitment that was presented to the Committee except for kids with disciplinary issues. We know who committed-we know who signed. Who are these mysterious recruits who weren't admitted? "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Qualifier Question
I agree with you Stallion. Plus JasonB has made similar "in the know" claims in the past that were not true. Notice he did not say any of this before or during the season about KF when you outlined the same thing you just stated. I guess is is claiming recent enlightenment. LOL. #HammerDown
Re: Qualifier Question
Holy crap. Here were my points: - It is better than in the past. - Provost is a sticking point at times, but Larry and Turner are able to get past it. - I don't have any insight into the football situation. At the end I simply gave an opinion, clearly stated it as such. I wasn't protecting June. I didn't say Turner was unjustified. I was just saying Turner helped Brown, sounds like he didn't help June in certain cases. Obviously (as I stated, I have no personal connection to the situation), it sounds like Turner was justified in not supporting June in those instances. You guys read way, way, way too much into what I am saying. I agree with June being let go. Get over it.
Re: Qualifier QuestionJason, I've never seen a guy get so unfairly beat up as you. Wow.
Re: Qualifier Question
losing pi$$es everyone off, and we are left to fight amongst ourselves. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Qualifier Question
What evidence do you have that June was not supported and what evidence do you have that what happen with KF really happened. Your sources have been wrong in the past so what makes you think they are correct now. When did you all of a sudden become tuned in to what was going on with the hoops team? #HammerDown
Re: Qualifier QuestionA couple of questions:
1) Is is possible that our standards have stiffened a bit since year two of JJ's tenure and since the Josiah Turner decision? We used to be a virtual sieve, but now the pendulum has swung back? Josiah was only used as an example because to offer more recent examples would not be politically advisable? 2) If not, is it possible that LB was trying to communicate that it's harder to keep and graduate kids here at SMU than GTown, Stanford, etc.?
Re: Qualifier Question
I don't think the standards are stiffened. The process has been the same it sounds like. Brown has been able to get kids through the system (close calls, but got them through). And with the success in basketball, it would be really stupid to stiffen them now, so I really would doubt we did that... Rebel, I said like 50 times that I don't have any knowledge into what happened with June and getting people in, that it was pure conjecture. Reading comprehension is a really important skill in life. I suggest you pick it up, it will help you pass your SATs.
Re: Qualifier QuestionI'm certainly not privy to any specifics, but I would assume the character of the kid has a lot to do with how a borderline (academic) qualifier is viewed. We all know JJ was "Mr second chance" and tried to get guys in that, in addition to academic issues also had criminal issues in their recent past. That's a tough combination and probably the reason many of them were even available to begin with
