Charleston Pony has used "Long Live the 1500" as a sign off for sometime. I applaud the sentiment.
But I wonder, sir. Are their still that many? I am reminded of a line from "Charge of the Light Brigade."
The survivors made their way back to the British lines, but they were, as Tennyson wrote, "...not the six-hundred."
The sooner something is done the better. Hire Rossley as a consultant. Announce the new coach SAP.

Free country, say whatever you want, get it out of your system. As you can see on this board, I certainly have. I walked away for a while but came back the day June was fired, to vent, because I am both disgusted and ecstatic at the same time. I hear some of the crap these kids have to deal with on a daily basis from these amateurs and I am thankful it is almost over for each and every player, as well as the SMU football program, and school. Seems obvious most here could do without the generic 'we suck' stuff. December and a new coach and staff are very near. Lots of positive things to look forward to.
By amateurs are you talking about the coaching staff? Just wondering, but I assume you have a son on the team? From what he tells you, you believe the staff to be amateurs? Very telling if I read into that right.
Just curious. Do you still get some pleasure out of sitting back, opening a Coors, and remembering, "SMU21TCU10"?

The team is bad. I agree. The coaching staff doesn't need a consultant. The football team and coaching staff need a sports psychologist.

I think the 1500 still exist but even their enthusiasm has waned and some of them miss a game now and then...and I doubt they travel as much as they once did. Just look at the attendance we had last year in Garland as evidence...or during the worst of the Dougherty years at Moody. That UCF football game last year was an exception because of the dangerous driving that day. I will continue to salute that bunch as they are among the most hard core fans any program could possibly boast...after all SMU has put them through! I will confess the death penalty made it easier for me to accept a position in North Carolina and vacate my post as one of the 1500.

When? I don't want to have to hold my breath too long.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
