Make the team good and the attendance will fix itself. And I mean GOOD, not this fake kind of good that we've been sold on. Start beating schools people care about. Start going to bowl games people care about.

The Beasley tweets make me laugh. I thought he was smarter than that. Did June honestly have them so brainwashed that they expected sold out stadiums for barely clawing their way into some CUSA toilet bowl? No one cares about anything Beasley accomplished outside of the Ponyfans echo chamber. I mean, what, I was supposed to talk about SMU football going to the Hawaii Bowl to an A&M fan at the office? Get real.

And all of the dumb ideas about polishing a turd and then selling it to suckers in order to fill the stadium are idiotic.

1) SMU needs to show it is committed to football. This is proven by the new coaching hire, building an ipf and football facilities and actively working to get the student body on board with the long 10 year path to success in the sport.

2) We need to win the AAC. We have not won a single conference championship while TCU won multiple and had 8, 10 win seasons. Still took em half a decade to start selling out but who said it would be overnight.

3) We need to get everyone involved, as in ED, Craig James, etc. embrace the past, have them speak well of us.

4) get active on social media. We suck...it is improving but a lot needs to be done.

Just a few thoughts

I agree with Pony94. We need to do what we can to bring alumni into Ford. It is about school spirit and that was dead from 1987 until Larry Brown brought back basketball.

Talking to a lot of fellow alumni, it seems school spirit is growing after basketball. People are actually excited about the prospects of a new coach. I think we are starting to finally leave the death penalty behind us for the first time in 30 odd years.

We should hire some consultants to figure out how/why Major League Soccer is getting so popular in the US and apply those strategies. It was plagued by horrible attendance numbers for years, but now it's on the upswing.

The World Cup. Won't work for us.

Where's my fee?

Football dad, I sense you've been here for a year, maybe two. I've been to more games than you and seen what's been going on since 08 (which is nothing compared to a lot on here). I live halfway across the country since I've graduated and still come to 3-4 games a year. STFU about saying I don't "want to know the truth" about our alumni and fan base. You couldn't be more wrong. I was constantly the one of, if not, the only kid in my frat that actually went to the game, along with our ex football playing bro, while everyone else went back to the house or barley to keep drinking. I MORE than understand our problems.

I get that you want the best for your som, and I'm very glad you do, but chiding our small fan base when the product is horrible is pointless. Winning CONSiSTSNTLY against teams that matter will solve the problem with alumni. Dallas likes winners and not much else. We've had this [deleted] argument on here a million times and I'm sure we'll have it a million more. Want to know the only thing SMU hasnt actually tried to solve the problem? Win when it matters. Like SMUer says, even if those 2,000 (being generous here) come in from the blvd, that doesn't solve the problem at all. What a ridiculous thing to focus on....

You are right on. Smaller stadium and official rowdy sections. Cut out the entire East Upper Deck and make them suites, which apparently sell like hotcakes. $$ and nicer looking attendance. And can we please, pretty please, move the TV camera platform to show our Home-side fans, instead of out band and student section!?!

I'll chide the fan base all I want, just like you chide the team and players. How bout you just focus on getting your frat buddies off the blvd and into the stadium. Remember, we have beer in the stadium now.

"Winning CONSiSTSNTLY (not sure what that word is?) against teams that matter will solve the problem". I think that has been debunked by at least a dozen people on this board alone. If you believe, as a non-P5 member, we should CONSiSTSNTLY beat Baylor, A&M and TCU, you are delusional. Although I suppose that will always provide the great excuse you need to excuse the poor attendance. Seems to me it would be much better to schedule TCU, UNT and 2 other winnable games, win the AAC, and finish with 10+ wins, but that strategy seems to always get shouted down by the 'teams that matter' crowd.

Good luck with that strategy and kicking off the season 1-3 every year. Seems even more embarrassing to me to have A&M completely take over our stadium and campus in a game we can't win vs. a game we can win in a half empty stadium.

I don't know, that's just me, as an actual football fan.

I've been going to SMU games since 1977. So I qualify as a loyal fan.

But the last thing you should do is give tickets away to watch this team. Those that came would never come back. They would see utter offensive incompetence. Complete joke of a team who will soon be playing against some of the worst teams in the country.

#125 ranked SMU versus # 100 ranked Memphis ( or whomever) now that's a great game.

No we need to keep this team hidden until we have something worth showing. I'm SO GLAD I don't see SMU football billboards up and down 75. I would bust out laughing at the thought of some unsuspecting football fan leaving Ford after seeing our team. He would have a bewildered look on his face.... That's a college team??!!.

The loyal fans need to attend as we always have so to show the team support. But we don't need to be trying to convert new fans with this dumpster fire of a team.

Every non-SMU fan I have brought to a game has left feeling sorry for me/us...until that changes...
