Maybe I'm just clueless, but is it that hard for SMU Athletics to convince the local media to spin some pro-SMU news/opinions? I'm not talking about covering up negative developments, but just getting the talking heads to focus on positives: $$$, recruiting hotbed, top 50 academics, etc.

If you look at it objectively can you blame anyone in the media for having that opinion? Until a coach comes in here and starts winning meaningful games, that perception will continue.

The Dallas media also laughed at the Larry Brown hire. Especially JJT of the a Fort Worth Star Telegram. Screw them.

JJT was the only one who I'm aware of that had bad things to say about the hire. Many in the national media did as well. BTW, he works for the Dallas Morning News, ESPN and SMU, not the Star Telegram.

I don't think so. He went to Skyline and Ohio St. He teaches a class or two at SMU now.
